I have recently read about and have been looking into writing an open letter to my abuser and am wondering if anyone has done this? Did you find it effective? Did you write simply for yourself? Did you deliver it? Put it on a public forum such as this?

I recently did this, kind of. My abuser died last year, so I never got the chance to do that, but I did write and send one to some others involved. You can pm me if you want details.

Yes, I did. It is called restorative justice....restorative justice says.....this is what you did, this is how it made me feel. The letter is for you/us who were abused. THe abuser dieda long time ago ...It was helpful. I think it takes back your power.

I've written several letters to my abusers and shared them in therapy. It helps quite a bit with getting the thoughts out of my head.
