I float through fb when I can't sleep. This article popped up in my feed... I probably shouldn't have read it. I'm crying. My heart is so broken for that kid... the systemic abuse apparent in that family, the denial, the push for protecting the abuser... I want to scream at them.... and yet, it's such a stereotypical family dynamic in situations like that. It hits very close to home. The mother and g-ma's plea to keep the family together, the support to maintain a "family unit" despite the horrific abuse... so very close to home

I see a lot of stories that I find very upsetting ThisWayOut when it comes to children and how they are abused and neglected by their own parents.
Thanks for this!

I was this kid. My abuse was physical/psychological, not sexual though. My family wanted to "stay together" also. The article angers me but I cannot speak for Montana Law. God bless that little girl. This is going to haunt me.
