I have spent the last 20 years convinced i was sexually abused as a child. I was convinced by therapists. I may have shown symptoms of abuse, but have yet to have a substantial memory. Most of my symptoms could apply to other issues as well.

Although I KNOW there was other abuse in my life, I am grateful to finally be able to accept that sexual abuse may not have been part of it.

Now that I finally know what is not quite right about me I will be better able to find the truth.

laughter really is the best medecine

Hi,

I am glad you are feeling relieved and, it sounds like, more grounded.

I would be interested in hearing about how you came to this realization and what it means to you.

I struggled with similar issues for many years and have gone through periods of both belief and disbelief.

emwell,

I hope sincerly that you find this to be a fact. Those of us who have suffered abuse can use all the good news we can use! I hope you find all the answers that you're looking for.

There is always light at the end of the tunnel, it doesn't matter how dark or long it is, just don't stop looking for it.

Well said gab, that is something I tell people all the time.

Light at the end of the tunnel, that's how it is with everyone, just getting there sometimes can be hard, but it's there.

Memories won't resuface until they are ready too, they can happen a year after the fact or 40 years after the fact.

If you try to remember you are doing more harm by pushing them farther back. When you are ready they will come. Otherwise all you can do is be paitent.

Some stuff I don't remember about my past, i'm sure it will pop up one day, and when it does i'll be ready for it, I hope.

These things cannot be rushed, you just have to take it a step at a time.
I hope that sexual abuse wont be apart of your life, I'm sorry you had to go through the things that you have, and all you can do is let it come naturally.

Take care of yourself, and you're right laughter is the best medicine. Relief
