I got an emergency protection order against my partner. He cannot contact me or my children until at least January 2018. Then we can make it longer, change it regarding the children etc.

I cannot believe I have done it. I have spent months agonizing how painful it would be, how much inwould regret it, doubting my own perception of events etc..
And today it is done. I feel so relieved.

Thanks so much .. I know it was so necessary but I wish it didn't hurt so much. I finally came home and I found our bed made with a photo of us both from when I was pregnant with our 1st son. Along with a letter stuffed in my sock drawer.
He always knew just how to make me cry.

You thought long and hard about this. It seems like you made the right decision. Maybe he will change some day. For the sake of your children, I hope he does but he has such a long way to go that it will take years (if it happens at all). If he does love you and the children, perhaps this will motivate him to become a better person. Breaking up is hard to do!

I wish you the best. It wasn't easy, but I did it twenty years ago with two kids and no job or education. Use your resources.

Thank you all Today I finalized it.Today I finalized it. yesterday I was tired, emotional and I returned home last night and it hit me.
After some sleep, I feel much better. I am a little shaky and unsettled but feeling okay.
I return to work today also, I have to say, I'm already enjoying the fact nobody is angry at me this morning!! I haven't had nasty comments about waking up early, my things were all exactly where I put them, no orders about how much money I need to leave or about what he is going to eat today because there is no good food in. There is the same amount of money in my bank as there was when I went to bed.
I'm feeling good today. Today I finalized it.
