I'm recalling an incident where my dad walked into a room, described an encounter he'd had with a prostitute while on a business trip while still married to my mom (they're divorced now), and then walked back out of the room.
It seemed important to him that my brother and I understand he had not actually had sex with this woman, so he graphically described all the other things he allowed her to do to him instead. Brother and I were in our early 20's at the time, so not minors. But this behavior seems odd to me and I don't have a lot of childhood memories so I can't figure out if there were other similar incidents that I'm just forgetting. Can anyone comment on this behavior? Is it very weird? Are there any other behaviors or disorders that it might be associated with? I have other suspicions about Dad, but right now it's all just conspiracy theories. |

SO inappropriate! Only he knew/knows why he would tell his children (or anyone) about that....and SO disrespectful to your mom. Insecurity?

Yikes I have no idea why he would do that, but it's not ok.

I agree. Weird. Do you think he was trying to impress you--or feeling guilty? Especially strange that he walked in, told you that, and then walked out.

Perhaps he felt guilty, and he thought by confessing that he didn't have sex, it would ease his "conscience" and he was teaching his boys misogyny.

Weird. Inappropriate. A conversation should be between two fairly matched partners, like a tennis match. Or one could be teaching the other partner. But this conversation sounds very one-sided, wouldnt you say? Like hitting a garage door.

only you can say whether this was weird or not. all we can do is read your posts and tell you if this would be weird if it happened to ourselves. no it would not be weird for this to happen in my life. situations like this usually have more details then what you have posted. example what was happening in my own life at the time, was I dating someone and my parent discovered it, did I discover my parent out with someone else, what happened with the dad before walking in on 20 year old me to tell me he had been out with another woman not my mother, did my mother maybe threaten to tell the family so was dad telling me first, ....
my point is on the internet all we get are snippets of a persons life not all the supporting details that actually witnessing the situation would give us to decide whether something is weird for another person or not. which is why I tend to err on caution and dont tell others online whether they have this or that or whether something in their own lives is wrong or not, weird or not, only you know all the info of what the complete situation was, so only you can decide whether this was wierd or not for you. |
