I'm going to see a new therapist in a few days. I'm really starting to panic over this. I'll have to tell my story or at least some of it. It's so hard to think I'll have to say it out loud. Anytime I think about some past events I have nightmares. I guess I'm really scared and wondering if i can do this. any words from someone that's been there would be helpful

im so sorry mick... that sounds really hard. Maybe you can tell your new T that you think this process might be hard and ask your T if they can help you and take it slow and respect that. If its a good T.. i think they will be able to help you along.

Mick if it's any help I have just started psychotherapy after keeping it bottled up (abuse) for over 35 years. I wrote my life story down, well parts of it and posted here which helped, my therapist is wonderful, they will only go at YOUR speed, they wont overwhelm you. First of all trust between you and the pdoc is foremost. Remember to heal you will need to go through some very traumatic stuff, but it will pay off. My nightmares and flashbacks are bad right now, I wont lie to you, but you can reach out here there is so much support. Do you have support at home? I have been advised to join a group with people who suffered the same trauma as me, they go on trips and just have fun together, I dont think I'm ready for that just yet, but I wish you all the luck in the world, you are bound to be dreading it, you are reliving past issues, but you need this to recover. PM me anytime if you need to talk, good luck, Jinnyann x
