I have been steadfastly avoiding all things that might trigger anything about any of the bad stuff for years and years now. Its time to turn around and face it and get better. Running from it isnt working. I have a great therapist and am working real hard doing the assignments between appointments but the feelings just don't happen. Everything I read says you gotta feel the feelings and process them and move on...but how do you turn on the feelings?? I can talk about the bad stuff...but I might as well be talking about a movie I saw last week. I am NOT avoiding feeling..I am not fighting back tears or whatever...they just aren't there. What am I doing wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong. You're taking the right first steps. Let the information come out. Keep speaking of the Truth you have been trying to hide from for years. The emotions will follow when you are ready. Be patient with yourself. You are on a healing journey. Don't turn away from your journey -- that would be the only thing to do wrong. be well, mtd |
