I have been away from the forum for a while. I left the Oxford House after 1 month and went to the Salvation Army, which was actually better. Within a week I had a job. I moved into my own apartment in June.
The job is going well, it is just part-time. My disability was denied and I have to file the appeal but I probably won't get it because of the number of hours I am working. But I like the job and it pays the bills so I'm good. I found some good AA meetings where the men know how to behave themselves and I go three times per week. People keep saying that I need a sponsor but the women here just aren't friendly so I gave up on that. I may get an online sponsor. Overall, life is going well. Still dealing with my anxiety/flashbacks, and I have a good therapist.

Congratulations freespirit on finding a job and getting your apartment. AA is wonderful. The sponsor is like a safety valve so if you are thinking of going back to drink, they can talk you out of it in time. Could be someone here or someone who is very accessible.

I Freespirit! Myself i am female but i have a male sponsor. To say you have to have your own gender for a sponsor is sexist and not everyone agrees with it like i do. What i do works for me. You might want to consider an older guy to be a sponsor who will not hit on you. tc
