I am nearly 28 years old and I have been in treatment for 20 years. In that time I have been on about 10 different medications and have been in weekly talk therapy on and off. The last "time off" I've had from therapy was nearly a decade ago.
Today at my therapy appointment I finally said what has been on my mind for a long time: "I don't think things are going to get better for me." Before anyone starts posting about how there is "always hope that things will get better, just keep trying", let me explain: Accepting my situation as it is does not mean I am going to end my life. Nor does it mean I've given up. I have execpted the statistical fact that not everyone recovers, and I have honestly never been more at peace.
