Right now I'm taking Remerol, titrating down trazodone, increased lamictal, and still on Zoloft and Valium.
I think this is the worst depression I've had in a long while. I increase the Remerol tonight.
I'm finding it hard to care anymore.

I take two:

50 mg Doxepin at night
45 mg Remeron at night

Both are supposed to be for sleep and for Depression.

I have Major Depressive Disorder and don't feel that either one helps that much.

But, who knows, I might be worse off without them. I certainly wouldn't be able to sleep without them both.

Citalopram, duloxetine, buspirone, Adderall and I still experience depression. One interesting nugget I learned in"abnormal psych" was that most antidepressants only work for a few months then their efficacy drops to almost zero. Nobody is interested in this though, can't make money by telling this to people. Even more, let's not even do trials that exist this long, so we can claim we have no idea about this problem or the other problem known as addiction. Also let's not call it addiction, we will need our buddies in govt at the FDA for this though, let's call it discontinuation syndrome. Now we haven't done any trials long enough to know about discontinuation syndrome, so we can't be held liable and the FDA approved it so we are in the clear. lastly, let's not let the public know that the threshold for showing clinical efficacy need only be shown in one or two trials regardless of how many identical trials showed no statistically significant variance from random chance or control group. Definitively don't tell people that we are allowed to run a trial a hundred times and have our new drug be a failure in 98 of those trials and only have 2 meeting a minimum criteria of something as low as a 20% improvement vs control. Shhhh.... People don't need to know any of this.

At least, that's what I've read and that's what my doctor believes as well.
Just curious--did you happen to try Modafinil(provigil)? If so, any different than the afranifil, or just plain didn't work anyway?

I know you posted this a few years ago, but I do take more than one medication. I take a stimulant, which sort of helped a bit. Now I am taking my antidepressant, the stimulant and a mood regulator.

I was able to come off mine due to all natural maca root. You should definitely try it. I was severely depressed and had tried 7 different prescribed anti-depressants. None of them can touch maca for uplifting mood and energy increase. I have interests again and I only sleep 6 hours a night instead of 14. And on top of that i was sleeping in my car at work 5 to 10 times a week. Everyone I have introduced it too loves it. You might be able to come off all those anti-depressants if you take it. you can get the powder which i take kinda nasty though at Trader Joes if there is one near you. Otherwise try piping rock.com. Good luck pray you feel better i do. It is just getting the right chemical mix in our brains.
