I have had major depression for 11 years,i have tried many things and medications, have been on wellbutrin for 30 days feel nothing, things ive tried, journaling, proper sleep, eating right, prayer, bible reading, therapy group and individual, excercise, positive affirmations, self help books, learning and depression research, breathing techniques, meditation, medications, music therapy, aromatherapy and I feel as miserable as I did 11 years ago,i literally lay in bed 19 hours every 24 at least, totally motionless unable to do anything but felling like my head is about to explode,no desire for anything, just moving to go to bathroom or eat is it feels more than I can take even the slightest hope of recovery or any form of resiliency, enthusiasm has been completely and utterly destroyed and the devastation is very thourough as it has been eroding me year after year for over a decade now,i could write forever explaining in detail the pain, suffering, despair, anguish etc of my disease without every having any awareness of anything positive, loving, joyous etc,and this utter suffering is how I feel 24 hours a day 365 days for 11 years,

I'm really sorry that you're feeling like this. I hope you will be able to see the light of hope, one day.. you deserve it.

Please, don't give up just yet. I know it's hard and that you have all the right to do so ,but don't. You deserve better than this.

I'm very sorry you're going through this.

Can I be blunt? Your meds aren't working, and probably making you far more depressed than you need to be. Did you know that antidepressants have depression as a side-effect? Notice how on the TV ads for them it always says 'if your depression worsens...' because it has depression and anxiety as side-effects so in effect you're taking a pill to make yourself depressed every day.

I don't say this to be unkind. I did it for 13+ years. I could be feeling fine one minute and then for no reason whatever my mood crashed and I was morbidly depressed--it was like a storm blew in with the black storm clouds. I finally went off my meds after some particularly upsetting side-effects occurred.

I didn't know what to expect when I went off my meds, I just knew I couldn't live with the side-effects any longer. I remember being amazed at how much better I felt!! My mood was better, and I had sooooo many side-effects that were making me feel so sick that I felt like my old self again. I have bipolar 2 so I realized I would need to take something, and within a few months I came across using amino acids to control my mood.

The thing those of us with depression, bipolar and other disorders need to understand is that for some reason our bodies don't produce enough neurotransmitters to keep our moods stable. Bipolar runs in my family so I suspect there's a genetic component to this so I do everything I can to give my body the amino acids, and other nutrients it needs so my brain can produce the neurotransmitters needed to keep my mood stable.
I've been doing this for 9+ years, and my mood is far, far more stable than it ever was on meds. I do have some up and downs, but when my mood shifts, I take whatever amino acid or the mineral supplement lithium orotate to get it back on track. Unless something is going on that has me upset, my mood shifts are short lived.

I also take a high quality nascent [ionic] iodine to keep my thyroid functioning properly, and am amazed at how much that has helped my mood. I live in the Pacific Northwest where the winter days are short and gray so I used to always end up deeply depressed by the middle of September. This year I haven't had any symptoms of the SAD like in years past and I believe it's from the iodine.

Here are some links and resources on treating depression naturally:

This is the web site of Safe Harbor, the world's largest web site for treating mental health issues without drugs:

Alternative Mental Health

This is a book on treating depression naturally. I haven't read it, but have read a couple of the books by the owner of this site that are very good. The premise is to rebuild your health by giving your body what it needs for you to be a happy, functioning person.

Depression Cured At Last book by Sherry A. Rogers, M.D.-painstress

This is a book on using amino acids for various health conditions. I have this book, and find it extremely helpful. I can't recommend it enough.

Heal with Amino Acids and Nutrients book | Dr. Billie Sahley-painstress

This is a video by a top doctor on using nascent iodine for various health issues. I started taking this about 4 months ago, and the white in the front of my hair is actually getting darker and darker. I have other health issue, and started going gray in my early 20s so this is incredibly exciting. I'm also amazed at how much energy I have and how great my mood is [and no, I'm not hypomanic, just in a normal, upbeat mood] on the iodine.

I'm not sure what you mean by gender inclusive, but the human body needs it no matter what sex you were born, or what sex you consider yourself.
