Is this normal? In the past 6 years- since I turned 20, basically- I have been sprouting hair in new places....like my stomach. I've also experienced other hormonal changes. And now, in the past few months I've become ravenously hungry every time I have PMS, I've had racing thoughts, and pretty bad mood swings. I've also gotten extremely weepy most times I had my period, and now, I'm having BAD hot flashes. They are so bad in the morning that it makes it difficult to sleep for them. After 20 minutes of trying to return to sleep this morning, I had to give it up. I tossed and turned, removed all my clothes except my panties because I needed them to hold my pad on, turned on the fan, removed the covers and layed only under the sheets, and took pillows I wasn't sleeping on (so they had cool covers from being in the fan and not under body heat), and pressed them under my tummy. When the fan hits, it is similar to when air hits a burned area or maybe a sunburned area.......it relieves it while it is blowing across it, but the second the breeze passes over it, the burn is back. It's like I am burning from the inside. I've had this happen before, but not this intensely. The temperature in the house is fine, and ODDLY, my temperature isn't raised, either, apparently. I thought hot flashes raised your temp? Anyway, I read online they should be brief. The one this morning was NOT brief. 30 minutes of tossing and turning. When I went outside at 5 and it was raining out, I thought it felt good. I got in my car and the air conditioner was on, and I wasn't sure if I liked it or not, but it wasn't bad. I got to work 15 or 20 minutes later (so that makes about 45 or 55- we'll say 45 minutes to an hour later from when it started, I arrived at work) and did a couple of things (dunno how long this took) before standing in front of the drive through window with the window open and a fan someone mercifully turned on me, drinking a cold water. Is this normal at my age? What is going on?

I agree, first thing that came to my mind was PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), but then I'm no expert!

Also, with hot flashes, check any meds you are on for side effects. Effexor made me really hot.

I have PCOS and this is what I went through awhile ago and still go through. I was dx when I was 13 and now im 20. I really think you might have it so I would suggest going to the dr and asking about it and getting some blood tests. Good Luck!
