I've been suffering with depression/symptoms for a few years now and was on meds in the past. But I guess I'm curious if it might be something else because somedays I feel fine. I've noticed right around my period (a few days before) I have extreme episodes and/or breakdowns. I tend to drink more and become very, very emotional to the point I try to self-harm or self-medicate. I wasn't sure where to post this because part of it is the self-harm but I guess what I'm trying to say is I have episodes and usually these episodes always land near my period. Even my friends and family would tell me that I always seem to have these breaks once a month....my mom asked if I thought it had to do with a hormone imbalance but I don't know.
I'm also asking this because guess what...it happened again. I had a big episode on Saturday night....and I got my period on Sunday.... Any advice? I hate living like this...one episode to another. I don't know how much more I can take.

I would call your obgyn about this. Sometimes I get really bad pms before my cycle like this. Sometimes drinking hot tea can help with the pressure.

I would talk to your doctor about possible PMDD - I suffer from this disorder and it is more intense around the time of my period and I take Celexa 20 mg 1x qd for it.

I was going to mention meds, which Rhapsody did. I also get more anxious, moody and easily upset around that time of the month. Which is coming up soon for me.
