I have long hair again. I like keeping my hair short, but don't have the money to get it cut as often as I would need to to keep it short. My hairdresser said it grows like 'wacky weed'. But the problem now is that even though it is summer, if I put it up it doesn't dry. Literally when I take my hair out at night it can still be wet on the inside. And if I have it down the deeper part of it doesn't dry either and it makes me really hot. It is like I can't win. I don't use a blow dryer except for in the deep of winter because it drys out my hair. Does anyone else have this problem or suggestions?

I had this problem, although I liked to keep it wet so that it dried curly. The best thing I found was just to regulate my showering hours. I always showered after dinner, to give it time to dry before bed. Washing in the morning doesn't work, but I'd go out with it wet if I had to (or blowdry).
Really I don't think there is a lot you can do otherwise save not tying it up (but I know that's horrible!), or towelling it dry as much as possible. I used to cut my own hair - maybe you could try that? (Actually, I lied a bit. I was too afraid to cut my own hair so I had my mum and friend do it for me - they are so good!)

I have this problem. My hair is long, curly and thick. I put my hair up as well but not until it is dry. By that time, I usuall build up a sweat on the back of my neck. I wish I had an answer for you other than washing it every other day.

I'm sorry you are both also dealing with this problem. But I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. I come from a family with very thick hair (except my dad who is now loosing some of his hair). But I'm the only one with long hair. My brother's hair is so thick that if it is the length that it just all sticks up it is like a carpet. (I swear). Luckily mine isn't quite that thick. But I really want my short hair back. When it was short it was so short I couldn't put it up. Maybe I will have to look into that again. I'm living in a smaller town so hair care would hopefully be cheaper here than in the big city I lived in before.

Try thinning your hair a bit.
My hair used to take hours to dry. Now it's thinner and only takes about 2 hours or less to dry. Much easier now. |

I definitely can relate to this post. I have fine hair though and loved my short cut on one hand, being off my neck but I have been growing it out so it is long again; I was tired w/ the short having to style it all the time. I like that w/ long even if it is still wet I can braid it or twist it up in a clip and go. I try not to blow dry it except for short notice things or dressier events, or keep heavier conditioners on hand for the days I do this. I get frustrated too though with the long, especially this summer. It is cheaper though! Can't seem to win. I don't have answers but I understand this frustration all too well!
