This is a rather odd post, but I was curious. Do any of you splurge or purchase the sexy stuff that boosts your self esteem, although most of the time we are the only ones that will ever know about the items we are wearing

I seem to enjoy shopping online to find things like that when I start to feel like I'm in a downward spiral. I don't usually have the guts to spend so much on them though. Does it seem silly to want to have sexy lingerie and/or undergarments when all they're worn for is to boost our esteem, if only in our eyes?

I think it's a great idea if it helps boost your self-esteem. At this point, I'm not that self confident to wear them....I know my husband would appreciate it though. lol.

Yes... I do this all the time! High five! I am so happy not to be alone. When I am depressed I go book shopping or underwear shopping. Lol, lately my shelves and my drawers are OVERFLOWING....
And yes, it is JUST for me.

I'm sure he would love it And I am not self confident either. But wearing something flirty or sexy, it gets. Who says others have to know about our hidden wild or feminine side?

That's awesome!!! Having so many to select from must be so exciting. I'm full figured, so haven't found as much selection in local stores that I feel sexy in. But there are soooooo many things online that I look forward to getting. And like yourself, it's all for ME.

Right now, I seem to be interested in getting some new bra & panty sets. Something like a chemise or the ruffley poet sleepshirt. And as soon as the nice weather hits, the hot thigh highs n garter stuff to wear with the skirts

Nothing silly about it at all! If it makes you feel good then that is what counts. Even if you're the only one that sees it, I buy those things not for my partner but because knowing I have something special in turn makes me feel special and good about myself. More power to you

(((Violetmoons)))

I agree with Typo and lynn. There is absolutely nothing to be ashamed about. You should be proud of yourself for wearing what makes you feel good. And we are here to support you. I would not have the courage to talk to others about this IRL. But everyone here is so helpful and supportive, I felt I could speak openly and not be criticized. Hope you feel better

Nothing silly about it at all. I used to do this all the time when I was thin, and fully plan on going back to it once I'm thin again. I'm an accountant so I have to dress pretty conservatively, so I'd like to think "if only you knew what I was wearing under this grey suit" And I did it totally for me.

If it makes you feel good, go for it.

oooh how i envy you all, i would love to buy sexy underware, but i am allergic to lace and incontinence products are hardly the sexiest items around!!! I did splash out on a couple of new cotton bras the other day though!
life is too short to worry what others think, if it makes you happy do it and damn the expense afterall you can not put a price on happiness!

IMO, I don't think you need to be thin to wear sexy lingerie. It's great you did it for YOU. And absolutely love how you phrased it "if only you knew what I was wearing under this grey suit"

Good for you! I can't imagine what being allergic to lace is like. But the stuff I seem to enjoy isn't always the lacy & frilly. I've seen many things that I personally would love, just because of the color or print.

And its funny I was just thinking about the happiness stuff the other day. I'm gonna die in debt more than likely. So I want to be able to have a few things that make the days fun.

Yes, I too like to wear sexy underthings even though no man has seen them for ten years now. One of the times I was in the psych hospital they asked me if I had a boyfriend because I guess they weren't used to seeing sexy stuff but it was all I had. (The sleepwear covered me decent though so nobody saw my sexy stuff except the people who checked my belongings on admission)

I go thru times of the year (like now, when the cold weather is starting to diminish), and I want to set aside some $$$ for myself, and go to the mall and walk into Fredricks (since Victoria's Secret doesn't carry my bra size), and just start looking and finding bras that are comfy, yet sexy.

I personally feel like I have a secret, that no one else knows about, when I put on a new bra, or a new pair of underwear. It's a boost of self esteem, and it's just fun, you know??

The only thing that sucks is that I have to go to Fredricks and spend about $30 a bra for something that gives me the comfort AND support I need. I wish I could find that combo at places like Walmart!!! LOL

My husband says that I don't need to wear expensive lingerie to look cute. He likes me in a white tank top and my sleep shorts. I keep reminding him that his eyesight is diminishing....

Makes plenty of sense! THere are times I feel sexier just loungin in something comfy. Guys probably notice our self-confidence when we're feeling good in what we have on, no matter what it may be. Not sure about the makeup. Thats prob cause I never wear it anyways lol

I might pack a few things extra if I have to stay in the hospital in the future

Finding bras & lingerie does seem to be hard. I'm soooo jealous if you have a Fredrick's nearby. I've visited the site alot Feeling like I have a secret makes it so much fun. Mind if I use your response for the man if I ever need to in the future if I ever need to?

I had to buy new bras yesterday, and I specifically made a point of buying a really pretty lacey one.
