I'm really excited. Dealbyday had this great offer on 6 sessions of laser hair removal for only $99. The normal price would be around $1000. So I'm going to get it on my lower face. I'm so tired of constantly waxing and plucking and feeling like I'm fighting a loosing battle. I have really dark, coarse hair, and have always had a problem with facial hair, but one of the meds I'm on, has the side effect of increasing hairiness so it's really impossible to keep up.

So I'm going to try laser. Hope it works.

If it does work, I know it will help me feel better about my appearance.

I'm glad you're going to do something to feel better about yourself. I have never had a problem with it but I know several women who have. And they will try for a while but, eventually, it becomes to time consuming and annoying to deal with on a daily basis. And, unfortunately, I know that people DO talk and DO notice, especially when it is dark and coarse like you described. I never knew laser hair removal was THAT expensive!

I have known women who had it down on their underarms and were sooooo happy they weren't fussing with shaving everyday and having little red bumps and all the other things that come along with shaving such a sensitive area.

Let us know how it goes! I'm sure you will be very happy with the results!

Ooh, I didn't know you could do your face. Thanks for the tip. That's a great idea; it's such a hassle to deal with any other way.

Yeah I do, which doesn't help. Plus it's genetic, everyone in my family on my father's side has a problem with excess hair - hair removal is a bit topic of conversation when I get together with my cousins.

Plus the it being a side effect of one of my meds. Seriously I can't win.

So I'm really hoping laser works. If it works on my face, once I'm back working and get some money saved up again, I want to get my legs done. I don't shave them, I use a depillatory cream as that lasts longer, but I still have to do them every 3 days.

Yes, you sure can...I did it over 10 years ago in high school. I am fair-skinned with darker hair, so as you can imagine every hair shows up.

My results were mixed. It did get rid of a lot of the coarseness and lighten some, but I find I still need to take care of the hair on my chin. Oh well

Good luck; the spa you are going to uses a multi-purpose machine (isn't just for hair removal)

http://www.almalasers.com/harmony_xl_specs.jsp

and it uses AFT technology:

Good laser hair removal depends on your individual skin and hair coloring, it's complicated and not a one-size-fits-all (why it's expensive).

I wish there was something that would just take out my hair follicles entirely. Even after shaving my legs have all these red marks where the hair was. Probably because I'm about as pale as a vampire but still.....hair is just annoying in general.

I wish I could do that. I have really long hair on my chin but it's blonde so I can't get it removed. But one still does notice, especially under certain light conditions. It's not just 1-2 hairs but really quite a lot and they grow so long, it's disgusting!! It makes me feel incredibly self-conscious.

me too...I rarely shave my legs because my skin gets so irritated, but then I feel like a hairy beast!

I don't shave my legs either, I use depillatory cream. I find that when I shave my legs I get red bumps too, plus since I can't wear my glasses in the shower, I miss spots or accidentally cut myself.

So I use the cream, even though it's messy and more expensive than shaving.

But I also find with the cream, I can go longer. Shaving I have to shave every other day. With the cream i can go 4-5 days.

I really hate being hairy, and I'm very fair skinnerd with extremely dark hair.

There's always electrolysis, that does work with blond hair.

Also something else that i've started using is a hair removal device called Epicare, which is a spring that grabs and pulls out the facial hair a little bit like a epilator. I can highly recommend it, and once you have gone over your face once it don't hurt much after that and it's a billion times better than shaving, yuck!!

This is the one i bought, but i'm sure that there will be a US seller somewhere, also buy the original not one of the cheap copies.

The creams give me horrible chemical burns...very sensitive skin! I hate it, but I leave my legs hairy and shave if I have to. Yikes! did I just admit that? I think I have tried everything under the sun and am doomed to be a hairy beast. Dark hair, fair skin, yuck!

On a lighter note, my kids think it's funny!
