In a completely BPD way..

I wanted some information on a drug and she refused to talk about it.
So I got up, told her she was fired and slammed the door behind me.

I'm guessing she wanted to get rid of me as her patient because she'd done this more than once.

I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. If a GP isn't listening to you and not explaining themselves, any doc for that matter, it's good to find someone else. It still may not be what you want to hear in any discussion but at least with a discussion, you can understand better why it may not be right for you. You deserve a better quality of care. Be sure to get your records forwarded to your new doc, so not having to start from scratch. When interviewing new docs, explain how you take an active role in your care and appreciate it if they can answer questions, and whether they are amenable to this. Ask the staff too when you initially call for an appointment, ask how open the doc is to questions for more insight and how they are with their patients and will give you a better idea too. Some docs don't like to be questioned, you may save yourself some time and anguish by prescreening them.

Thanks

I went to interview another gp yesterday and I really, really like her.
She has the personality I need, she listened to me then gave me a shot in the @rse to help my muscle spasm. I think she liked doing that

She was lovely and wasn't judgmental regarding my scars or my other self-inflicted injuries.

Best part was that when I got out of bed this morning I could actually move thanks to that shot
Thanks for this!

Thank you Flooded for starting this thread. I applaud your choice to fire your GP. Reading about how you have stood up for yourself has encouraged me to be more assertive with my GP and other doctors.
