I'm 28, so I believe I am just out of the recommended age group that should get the HPV vaccine. (I think it's age 26) I've already made an appointment with the OB Gyn to get a pap smear, so I will ask her then. I was just curious if anyone knew the answer to this question. Thanks.

If you're already sexually active, then your doctor should check 1st if you've already been exposed to it. If you don't have it, then yes you can get it.

I'm not sexually active but I have done other things with boyfriends. From what I've read it can be spread from skin to skin contact. Thanks for your reply.

Before you make up your mind about getting the Gardasil vaccine, PLEASE READ THE INSERT to see what all the side-effects are. There were numerous deaths in the reported in the trials from what I've heard--I follow this sort of thing a lot as it really concerns me.

Here's a link to a website detailing some of the side-effect young women have had with it:

http://truthaboutgardasil.org/

This is a link to another article about over 200 young women who were disabled from the vaccine, some with MS-type symptoms, and worse. The article also mentions how Austraila has initiated a class-action lawsuit against Merck, the maker of Gardasil for the harm it's done young women there:

tigerlily,

Do be sure to look at what information is provided on the HPV on the Merck website. That information will lean towards the positives of vaccination, but it will also list the possibility of suffering negative side effects and it will list the ones that have been reported. By law, all medication makers must provide ALL info to the public.

The reasoning is so that people can make educated decisions in medications and vaccinations in the U.S. I have a lot of personal history in science classes at university, so I feel that I need to warn you to always seriously consider who/what your source of information is. It's VERY important!

If you are going to visit your doctor anytime soon ask him or her what they recommend and go with their advice. You might also just try calling a clinic and ask what they think and then just go with that
