i have a period question. i am 26 yrs old no kids. i got my period when i was 10 and it was bloody hell very very heavy periods and very painful. id had to change pads every half hour cuz that is how bloody my period is. at my age now, i noticed it is not as bloody like it used to be but still like medium/heavy or so.

every time i urinate, i see small blood clots from my period. sometimes they are light red and other times dark red clots. i was told by a previous gyno that it is nothing to worry about it that it is normal for women to get that during menstruation.

every time i got my pap smear (which i freak out) would come back normal. i did one time have a yeast infection long ago. i havent been to the gyno for 3 yrs going on 4 next year since my state insurance does not cover for women's wellness exams anymore maybe if ur over 40. i dont have money to go and still looking for work.

planned parenthood charges like $150 for a pap smear and still not covered with the state insurance. i found another nonprofit similar to planned parenthood they charge like over 200 bucks for the pap including the freakin lab exams!

also back in 09, my period did not come on for 3 months and was found to be not preggo. i need to know why it didnt happen. my period back then ended in oct 09 and didnt come back on until the last week of jan 2010.

Are your periods regular now? Sometimes fluctuations in hormones can cause longer periods between er, periods. I must admit three months is rather long but if everything is back to normal now i doubt theres a problem. What does your regular doctor say? This issue was three years ago, it was something more serious its likely you would have known by now so i would try and relax and get some advice from your doctor to put your mind to rest.

nothing, he doesn't know. last time i talked to him, he did ask me about it but i don't like talking to male doctors about it, i want a woman's answer because men don't go through this all the time. it's still regular most times, i would have 2 periods in one month! i had my period one time in the beginning of the month and the last week of the month which is strange.

If you're experiencing frequent irregularities i would try and see if you can get the opinion of a female doc - there are female doctors at my surgery and if i explain to the receptionist i have womens issues i would like to discuss they're normally happy to let me speak to a female doctor on that occasion...maybe you could try doing the same? Best of luck.

i know that but it is not covered through the state, it is an out of pocket expense. one female gyno i saw in 2006 didn't think it was bad if there were clots i saw when having my period. they didn't see it "as a threat" to my health or something.

i used to have a horrible bloody stench that would just wreak! i haven't seen a female gyno since 09 when i was still on my parents' insurance when i was in college that is when i got kicked off because i was graduating the next year.

however, the current male doc and last male doc have been very concern about my period because i am now anemic because i have very heavy periods which results in losing a lot of iron. so, i do eat iron-enriched foods to replenish or drink green drinks that have a lot of iron in them. previous male doc said i am losing red blood cells it is not the 42 count it was like 32 of 36 something like that.

Some medications mess with your cycle. I was taking risperidone and never had a clue when I would get my next period.

Also weight loss can do it too

Male docs often just don't get it

I hope you get it sorted

If your periods are still extremely hard and now they are infrequent, I would see a female doctor and ask about fibroid tumors. These are benign (non- cancerous) tumors that CAN raise havoc in the uterous. Before I had my hysterectomy, I did have fibroid tumors and one was wrapped around my ovary causing infrequent periods, plus causing EXTREME bleeding to the point of being very anemic, coming close to passing out each month, and not being able to go to work the 2nd day of my period due to heavy flow. The doctor said it was time for a hysterectomy, and I jumped at the chance. LOL So he took everything, including the ovaries and the cervix so I woulldn't have any possible problems with cancer later on. Sounded good to me!

It's been wonderful! I took hormone therapy for several years, and then quit. I never had any hot flashes or anything. Now I'm past that age, so I lucked out!

i did look up fibroid tumors on webmd and another site i did some symptoms checklist and fit quite a bit of them. i used to get spotting when i was on bc pills not on them anymore. i never had extreme bleeding but in the past, my pads would be bloody hell from top to bottom and panties always wreaking in blood stains.

when i'd urinated, the toilet is filled with more blood than urine like omg! my cervix was healthy 3 yrs ago but who knows what it looks like now. honestly, i do not know if fibroid tumors run in my family with the women as my family on both sides are so damn secretive of medical issues saying it is none of THE MAN'S business about us! i just roll my eyes when they say that and my doctors always say how are we suppose what u have in ur family if ur family wont tell u anything?

he said u could develop xyz and never knew it existed in ur family. i said dont tell me that u need to tell them that! i told a previous doctor my parents feel you are gonna do them in and kill them if they said what's in the family history. he couldn't believe when i told him that lol
