I have noticeable puffy bags under my eyes - they don't go away during the day, and I think they make me look older.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can do get rid of / minimize them.

Thanks.

If its something that is temporary then lots of sleep does wonders. For the 1 st time in my life I got them working nights for a few shifts...once I got sleep then off nights, no more bags ever, even if Im up late. There are new eye treatments, rollerballs especially for this problem. Cucumber, teabags, sinus cleaning, fluids. Good luck
Thanks for this!

I've just started using an eye product that contains caffeine. The claims are that it reduces puffiness (and it's in lotions to minimize the look of cellulite too). I *think* I can see a difference, but it might be wishful thinking. Certainly no one has said anything (what would they say? Wow Bub! Generally you look to be 200 years old, but today you only look like you're oh, say, 150?!)
Thanks for this!

I know this sounds gross to some people but I use Preparation-H to reduce swelling under my eyes. It is the only thing that works for me.

I have hereditary dark circles. My sons have those too.

My grandmother's eyes, get puffy, with allergies. One of those gel packs can help.

And there are gels sold that are supposed to help with puffiness, usually something with cucumber. Even real cucumbers are supposed to help.

Be sure to use the cream Prep-H, not the ointment. It works really well for under eye bags and puffiness. I have used this on really bad days, but use another eye cream normally to keep them in check. I change brands depending on what is on sale as some can be pricey, or supplement with tea bags (steep in hot water first, cool in fridge, then use 20-30 minutes; it is the caffeine that helps to reduce the puffiness as mentioned above); also, many eye creams that say they are for circles and puffiness/bags usually will do a good job. If not, you will know shortly, keep the receipt and take it back if it doesn't work.

Hi --wow some great replies, have to thank you all! I have tried most of them. Even Prep H? Thank you, Fresia...lol, I didn't know I should have used the cream? How silly of me?

Those bags....
...Yes, aren't they dreadful? Really age me. I get them especially if I cry? I try not to, but sometimes, it is cathartic to cry; feel better afterwards--LOOK HIDEOUS!
Also:
I find I get more puffiness if I have eaten anything with a lot of salt in it?

I try to keep my salt levels down... amazing how many food products have salt, and I finally figured this one out.........so late in life? that can of soup? wow--salt galore. Even Progresso. Cans of Tomatoes...wow..... so much salt.

The one I use, and has worked the best for me is indeed the idea of caffeine. I do not buy a special cream...I have caffeinated Green Tea in the am? I take the tea bags out of each cup.......and slap em on my eyes. Works really well.

Thank you for this funny bubsmiley!! Laughed...great!:::

"Certainly no one has said anything (what would they say? Wow Bub! Generally you look to be 200 years old, but today you only look like you're oh, say, 150?!)" ---I just added value to my face? Laughing.....

Right? LOL......great one! ~~~~~~Pax and hugs all...a grateful virago

Haaa I use it also. It actually works better and cheaper than any expensive fancy product out there.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I'm currently trying a Regenerist roller from Oil of Olay. I've been using it daily since Sat. I think I'm seeing some improvement, but am not sure. I'm going to give it a go every day for 2 weeks, and see if it helps. If not I'll move on in my experimentation.

I'm curious for those of you who have suggested preparation H, how often are you supposed to apply it? And does it make any difference if you apply it at night or in the morning.

thanks.

The only one no one mentioned is Make Yourself sleep on your back, or propped up a little with pillows. It reduces puffiness in general, and will eliminate "sleep wrinkles", especially on neck, chest, and sides of eye sockets....

Also, drink a Ton of water to flush all the salt through your system. These are tried and true, real fix/ preventatives.

(And Regenerist is an amazing product line, all of it). Prep H is a temporary fix, use for short term reduction of swelling ...just like on your ...other end.

Use it at night mostly, dabbed lightly around the eye for a fresh look in the day. I have know some of the women using it during the day in crunch and putting it on under their makeup. No matter when applied, models and flight attendants have been using this trick with prep H for some time. I am not so sure I would use more than once a day as their are no studies for this use. I have only used it in a pinch for really bad days such as the effects when have consumed too much salt accidentally or when traveling wreaks havoc on my bags, but use specifically designed eye creams normally, like the Oil of Olay product you are using currently. I have not tried that one though, and would love to know what you think of it; please let us know if you have a chance.
