Hi

I know this is not a psych related issue, but thanks for reading.

I have dark brown hair...I am starting to get these stray greys, that are wirey....what type of hair color could I purchase at the store to cover them up? I do not want a permanent dye, because what if i scre up?

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I use Clairol Natural Instincts (Creme)...it's kind of in an orangey/brown box with green writing...and lasts at least 28 shampoos. I also have dark brown hair and the same wirey grey hairs you speak of....I choose a redder shade called Darker Auburn (but its not THAT dark, even on the model on the box), since I would like redder tones in my hair, but have found the color true to my expectation. You can find tones that are brown in nature only, I do believe. It does rinse out gradually, and it seems rather hard to notice that it's washing away. I need to redo mine but am just being lazy about it.

I also pluck the shorter grey hairs, they tend to stick up and out and drive me nuts.

same here - dark brown curly hair and a few stray wirey strands of grey (they are thicker and are not curled the way the rest of my hair is curled). I go to a hairdresser who covers those stray greys so well that I forget I have ever seen them. It is probably done once a quarter (I can check). And she does a superb job. Maybe it makes sense to compare prices between professional "grey blending" (this is how she calls the procedure) and at-home kits.

I have pretty dark hair too and now lots of grey. It is pretty hard to cover grey so I am going blonde a little at a time. It looks pretty natural right now because parts are pretty blonde(the grey) while the rest is now a light light reddish color so it all blends pretty good.

That sounds nice! What did you use? The last time I went to a hair salon for high lights, I had a terrible experience.
