This could probably go on the sexual issues forum, but I feel more comfortable placing it here, so guys can't/aren't supposed to answer.

So, I am wondering if masturbating on Saturday caused my UTI. I have an ob/gyn appointment on Monday and am thinking about asking, but don't know if I should. I have tried googleing and have got mixed responses, but am really curious.

Is it okay to ask an ob/gyn something like this? I don't want to look abnormal. I know my T has told me masturbation is completely normal, but I don't know how a medical professional would respond to it.

I do want to know though if an UTI can be caused by this though, so I can be more cautious in the future to prevent getting one again. Would an ob/gyn be able to answer this?

I am going back and forth on whether I should ask or not on Monday.

If bringing this up, is something you want to discuss, I cannot see why they wouldn't be open to what you have to say. Maybe they'll give tips to try to avoid UTI's in the future.

Maybe, they'll mention the usual tips for trying to avoid UTI's. Drink plenty of water/stay hydrated. Use the bathroom before and after, to flush bacteria. etc.
Thanks for this!

Trust me, ob/gyns have heard it all. They are experts on the female reproduction system, sex, and the parts on your body that causes/receives sexual arousal. That's what they are there for. No question is a stupid question. It's critically important to inform your ob/gyn on everything going on down there.

UTIs can be caused by a lot of different things, mostly wiping one's butt from back to front instead of front to back. UTIs happen a lot because of how one's body is made, I've never had one for example and am 63 and have done my share of masturbating :-) But by all means, talk to your ob/gyn about it and get more reassurance that you did not cause the UTI, it is not some kind of "punishment" for masturbating.

Perna, your post reminds me to mention, that it could be a symptom of a kidney infection, as well. I like that you wrote, Perna, that this is not a punishment for masturbation. I've only had a couple in my life. One, I realized, I have a sensitivity to spermicides. And the other, gosh, was there even another UTI? Oh yeah..there was this one UTI, that I swear wasn't a UTI, when I was 12, and I remember it was at the end of the school year, was at a friends pool party(dad had to come get me, early, because I had to go see the doctor due to the test results), and had tested for one, before going to camp...why, at that time, didn't they ask me, the date of my last period?! I, probably was over-medicated due to probably, not having one...just makes me, think, sometimes, about my own health struggles and cause/effect type of things...

I'd be curious, if it's from this, or just a fluke, uti, especially with the cramping.
Thanks for this!

Yes definitely ask. Come in with all your questions so you can be informed
The more information they have, the better the advice and to your health

I always regret not asking questions (or forgetting questions) when I go on checkups
Thanks for this!
