Pamprin or Motrin? My husband told me they were both the same. So I always went with Motrin. I was having horrible PMS and pre-cramps and went for Pamprin. I felt better with the Pamprin. I looked at the back ingredient and some were the same and some were different. Of course my hubby is a man who can be all knowing. (he was a medic in the army, so he thinks he knows a little about everything)
Which to you take and why? Or do you take something else. I did try Alieve and that was like drinking water. Didnt work at all. __________________ I asked God to keep me safe from my enemies, now half my friends are gone. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Bipolar I MDD -------------------------------------------------------------------- Lamictal-100mg Effexor-225mg Trazodone-100mg propranolol 80mg |

I do not get my cycles anymore. What helped me the most was taking 500 mg of calcium citrate (combined with 250 mg magnesium) every hour til I got relief (usually about 3-4 hours). If I was able to I would would lie down with a hot water bottle over my uterus (wrap it in a towel).
Pamprin made me feel worse. Motrin did not help at all. |

I'd never consider Motrin over Pamprin for PMS. In my opinion, the only debate for pamprin is midol.

Well, I had to start researching because I was curious...
The main active ingredient in all formulas of Pamprin and Midol (but 2, oddly enough, Midol Liquid Gels and Midol Extended Relief) is acetaminophen, aka the name brand Tylenol. The amount per dose is different based on the formula and other active ingredients, too. Some versions have caffeine (diuretic) or pamabrom (another diuretic I have never heard of); aspirin (pain reliever, of course); giphenhydramine citrate (sleep aid) in their pm formula; and an antihistamine to "help relieve swelling due to water-retention during your menstrual period." in Midol's Complete formula. (I take Zyrtec, an antihistamine, every day for my allergies but still swell a lot during my period due to water retention, so I have no idea where they can up with that??) Midol Liquid-Gels is 200 mg of ibuprofen per capsule. Midol Extended Relief is Naproxen Sodium (aka, Aleve)...200 mg per capsule. And Motrin is a name brand of ibuprofen, p.s. http://midol.com/products.html http://www.pamprin.com/drug-facts/index.html __________________ "Take me with you, I don't need shoes to follow, Bare feet running with you, Somewhere the rainbow ends, my dear." - Tori Amos Last edited by UnderRugSwept; Jul 26, 2014 at 11:33 PM.. Interesting. I guess they are both the same. I guess its a personal choice.

I used to take ibuprofen for cramps. It worked really well. I can't take it now because I'm on Prozac (SSRIs and ibuprofen together can cause stomach bleeding), but it used to really help me.
