Ok so today I got my period, and I unwraped a pad, on the little paper backing it said "Have a Happy period!" I laughed at the thought that the little saying implied I should be happy about having my period! I just thought it was a little funny/odd. Also... why do most pads come wrapped in lovely PINK wrappers???? Those are my thoughts for the day.

Spaz, I think it's what the PR people call "spin." Have a... They're trying to cheer up women who are clearly at a time of month that makes them unhappy! LOL I think it's kind of cute. What brand was it?

I bought some in desperation (they were out of my regular brand) that come in green wrappers -- not sure I like those any better. But I think I'm going to be prejudiced against anything having to do with the whole affair. Have a...

Candy- You know, I don't remeber what brand it was, I grabbed it out of my mom's cupboard (so not my usual brand).

Rayna, I'm glad you found it funny as well!

Gotta love the spin they've made on periods, through the years. Yes, my period, can and does have emotions Who knew?! LOL

Or how about 'pearl' applicators on a certain tampon?! Umm...pearls?! Are we giving our periods jewelry, now?!

I enjoyed my periods.

I have not had one in 10 years (thanks to Mirena IUD), and although I definitely appreciate having no mess and no expense associated with the period, I miss menstruating, because:

- I loved the smell of menstrual blood; it was soooo sweet, earthy, and... just too good to describe. When my first baby was born, his whole body smelled of the same scent, so I realized it must have been the scent of my womb (sort of - the scent of life itself, at its source).

Back when I was menstruating, my periods were painless (unless I was sitting down for hours), medium flow, extremely regular (28 days to the hour), medium duration (5 days), with no PMS. So I did not have any serious negatives.

Given how many women complain of PMS, heavy periods, etc. etc., it is surprising to me that birth control options that suppress menstruation are not used much more widely.

A women should thank God for her periods because this gives her opportunity of experiencing most wonderful thing in the world i.e. being a Mother.
I do experience cramps on 1st day of my periods which hampers my day-to-day work. I don't wish periods should stop, but I wish the cramps should.
Initially, I rarely experienced cramps during periods during my school days. Never felt anything at that time. But, after 15 years of my periods I started experiencing immense pain within hours of starting my periods. I've seen gynecologist but there are no symptoms of infections, fibroid, etc. I wonder would could have caused this change. I'm a virgin. Any help.

Don't ya bet it was a man who said, "hey, let's put 'have a happy period' on the wrapper"?

User Name- I have had cramps come and go over the years so maybe that's not unusual for it to change, I don't know.

I had them bad as a teen then a little better in early twenties. As I think is common for many, they were better after having kids. At some point in my forties they came back. I'll be fifty soon and most months I have them, some I don't.

I've had my kids and I wish I were done with the periods. I've always thought there should be a switch you could hit.
