this is my first post.
i feel really lonely and missing my ex boyfriend. we were together for 5 years and i finished things because i wanted my freedom for a while.
he is now seeing someone else, which is fair enough as i finished everything.
i'm just so depressed and i don't know why. i have good friends and family but miss him now.
this probably sounds really petty compared to some peoples problems in here. sorry.

(((hugs))) I'm sorry you are feeling lonely. I think that can be expected. Good for you that you wanted some times for yourself though. Give him some thought time, scheduled, and then get up and go girl! lonely

It'll be normal to feel lonely for a bit. I just ended a relationship too, about a month ago. And I feel lonely too. But I just come here a lot, and it helps. Welcome to PC.

Sorry you are feeling so lonely now.

You mentioned that he is now seeing someone else and I am wondering if this is what has made you realise that you miss him? You wanted some alone time but are you feeling lonely now because he has moved on and you possibly weren't ready for that?

Ending a relationship is always difficult but, if it is for the right reasons then I think it just takes some time to adjust to the change.

Hi givinup lonely

You need to get outside of your loss and get a new identity and purpose for your life. Have you considered volunteering, socializing with your friends more often, taking a non-credit course, going for a holiday?

Hello givin up.
I am sorry you are feeling lonely at this time. I agree witht he above post and volunteering helps you meet new people and helps others as well. Volunteermatch is a good site to look for a volunteer job in your area. Also there are support groups such as DBSA and NAMI possibly in your area that may take up some of your time and offer much needed support as well. Chat is generally available here at Psych Central daily, and I am usually in chat at 2 PM Monday-Friday with the regulars of Psych Central. Feel free to come and chat if nothing else is going on with you during that time. Take care I hope the best for you Givin up. Soidhonia
