A great deal of my depression has been caused by sexism and being called all sorts of misogynistic names by men and (even women) and not being able to navigate normally in the world like a man would. Every f*cking day I have to worry about being looked at in a sexual manner and I dress very conservatively.

I feel like people in this society will never take me seriously, not my anger (most people have laughed at me and not think I'm capable of causing any harm like a man would). There was a study I once read about women's anger not being taken seriously whereas the people in the study usually backed down when it was a man expressed anger.

Like even in mainstream music, there are even new words targeting women such as "thot". People like to pretend that slurs like the b-word are gender neutral when

People take race far more serious than they will gender. If the n-word is used there is an outcry but as soon as random man calls me a ****** on the street no one comes to my defense. It's just ingrained in society and pisses me off that I've been socialized to restrict myself at every turn.

I'm a guy, and there are certain words beginning with "b", "w", "h", and "s" that are used to refer to women, which make me want to go 100% drill sergeant on people.
Thanks for this!

Yeah I totally feel you, and the thing is when I talk about things that have been said and done to me, a lot of the time I end up feeling like I'm the one being sexist because I'm not talking about all the stuff that happens to men too. I can only talk about my own experiences, not the experiences of a man, I'm not trying to say we have it worse or it doesn't happen to men or it's not as important if it happens to a man. It's equally as not okay. But I've had everything from being called a slut as I walk down the street, to being followed home, to followed through a shopping centre, to being offered money to 'hang out', I even just lost someone I considered a good friend because I wasn't willing to be his girlfriend and 'I'm just the same as all the others, so I can get ****ed'. I even posted on here recently about how everybody comes into my store thinking my male staff member is my manager, when I'm actually his. We get deliveries and they ask him where he wants the stock, customers come in looking for 'the boss'. It makes me feel craptacular that as a 28 year old female I can't be a manager because I'm not a man.

I don't want to generalise and say men should respect women- everyone should respect everyone. But I'm not a slut, yes I am a manager, and no I don't want your money to 'hang out'.
