Just found out that I was HPV positive at last pap. I am in my 40s. Anyone have any experience with this?

I read that 80 percent of women will have it by the time they turn 50. There is also no test for men.

I could of got it from anyone.

I did in my 20's. I required cryotherapy from my Gynecologist, to freeze the HPV cells away. From there, it was quarterly pap checks for one year, and then every 6 months for two years, followed by back to annual paps again. I have no idea where I got it from! Not fun, I know. But, it's much better caught now, than waiting for symptoms to show up. Right? Gentle hugs sent your way.

Yup. Came up positive after my son was born. 3yrs of paps and getting hole punches taken from my cervix every 6 months and thankfully all came back benign and eventually my body was able to fight it back into dormancy.

I've had a positive test a little over ten years ago, but it has since gone away.

I have also tested positive and had two colposcopy's done - both of which have come out fine. Its a little uncomfortable knowing you "acquired it" but its highly common and pretty easy to deal with so worth knowing.
