Just curious as to what age women have gone through menopause at? I feel like I may be pre menopausal just based on my emotions, etc.

And also has anyone on here gotten pregnant naturally after age 45?

I started menopause at 44. And so far it's been pretty easy.

My mom got pregnant with me, when she was 47, so it is possible.

I'm 46 and I've been feeling menopausal for a couple of years - occasional bad night sweats etc. Its horrid when I'm experiencing it but its infrequent. I know a couple of women who had early menopause - early and mid 30's - unusually early but turned out to be normal, just early.

I'm 53 and was having regular periods until March. I haven't had a period since then. But it has to be a full year with no periods to be considered menopause.

I'm 46 and I occasionally get night sweats. I do have hot flashes, and my period has changed. I've lost the set length of either a 21 or 28 cycle. It's ranges between 23 and 30...this month is was 17.

We still use birth control. I had an unplanned pregnancy at 42 because we didn't think we still had to be so careful. But I've since learned that unless you go a full 12 months without a period, you could still be fertile.

I am 46 and still have periods every month. They are extremely heavy (even though I already had polyps removed) I am starting to feel worse right after periods end now (I used to feel my best then). I would have so much energy, feel thinner and happy. Then after ovulating I would I would get into those PMS days where everything bothered me, anger, etc. Now, right when period ends I feel so low energy, sad and I think it is due to low iron after having practically given blood!

I still can feel those fertile days around day 14 to 16.

Next time you have your annual physical ask your doctor for an FSH test. That will tell you where your cycle is. I thought I was entering menopause at 45 and it turned out to be anxiety. The FSH test shows I am still fertile Mertile.

Because of fibroids I only had half an ovary then when I was 50 I have sepsis and that burnt out my ovary so I went from normal into ful fledged menopause. No premenopausal signs. I had mild hot flashes but that was it.

I asked my gyno for a test to see if I was close to menopause and she said there is no test and that I am not in menopause.

So I went online and bought a test that is supposed to test for levels but it said to only do test on the third day of your period?

Premenopausal (horrible hot flashes/night sweats/heavy or light periods/irregular periods) since age 51. It has been 1 year, 8 months since this started. However, last period was 3 months ago and the hot flashes/night sweats stopped about 3 months ago. My libido prior to that period was crazy intense. I was glad my husband likes a lot of sex. He even said, "it was like when we were first married." I thought so too.

the drs can test your hormone levels and tell you if you appear to be in perimenopause, my dr tested me a couple of times. the hard part of that is that during perimenopause your levels can drop super low and spike super high, so testing is sort of hit or miss. but you would be able to tell by your physical, mood and behavior syptoms if your estrogen levels are up or down. I was diagnosed bp the same year I started having symptoms of hot flashes, night sweats and period changes (duration, frequency, degree of heaviness) at 43. My last period was at 51 but official menopause was 52. So yeah, 8 years of straight hell! Yay for menopause! I've been stable for 2 years now.

Do any of you have problems working with menopause??

It scares me to think of having mental problems (I already have anxiey and depression, and am not stable to begin with!!) How am I going to go through this???

My periods are SUPER HEAVY for about 5 years (I have to plan around them) Am using a super tampon and pad at same time and sometimes can't make it over an hour! (that is usually only 2 days that that happens)

I am super stressed to begin with living with parents that make my life hell. I need to move out. If I disagree with anything they say "for example if I say that I don't like a tablecloth or something that is so minor I will be told I need to be committed!! They will say "there's something wrong with you, you are messed up" I may even get punched in the face. How do I deal with menopause like this????

Are you saying your libido was intense during menopause or before menopause? I think mine is going down. not sure

Started the hot flashes about 50. Periods started becoming very irregular with longer intervals in between about 51. I'm 53 and still in that mode of hot flashes, night sweats, and SO ready to just be done with the periods. But my mother and sister said it took them like 4 or 5 years to finally be done with the perimenopause so I figure I have another year or so to go.

Dear Fijiisland, It happened for just one month (maybe during menopause-if menopause is when you get the hot flashes, etc.). I'm not sure why I got that way. I have been on a roller coaster ride since the hot flashes and other things began in January 2015. Fortunately, I feel more stable lately (no flashes, etc.).
Thanks for this!

I'm 54 and didn't get a period for 9 months and my doctor said that I was in peri-menopause. However, I got my period last month and just got it again today. I really thought that I was close to being done! Now it seems like I'm back to square one...

At your age I had such heavy periods that I became severely anemic. My doctor wanted me to have a transfusion. I ate iron pills like they were candy. Refused the transfusion. My Gyn suggested an Endometrial Ablation. Basically they super heat the lining of your uterus and when it heals you don't bleed as much if at all. It was such a blessing and an easy recovery. I felt much better when I was no longer anemic!
I still had mini periods, one days worth. Stopped when I was 52.
Best wishes!

I had a total hysterectomy at 47 so I was menopausal at 48. I was going that way anyway but with my family history of ovarian and uterine cancer my GYN doctor considered it prudent to do it then. I still have the occasional hot flash but not that often.
