Hi everyone! Hoping for a bit of advice!
A few weeks ago I was suffering from some severe itching down below. I went to the docs who diagnosed me with thrush. She took some swabs to confirm it was that and nothing else and it was.

I used a pesserie and cream (although I've been a bit lax with the cream!) And it seems to have mostly cleared up. I still get the occasional small itch but nothing like before.

I'm having problems during sexual contact though. My vagina feels really dry like I can't get aroused properly...and upon 'insertion' it feels kinda sore. Afterwards my down below felt swollen and sore and almost like there was something stuck up there.

I don't know if this is just the after effects of the thrush. Maybe it hasn't quite cleared up yet but it's been 2 weeks, or maybe I'm just not aroused enough before we get going. Does anyone else have any experience of this? It's been 2 weeks since I went to the docs and started my treatment!

Thanks !

I am sorry I don't believe I have ever had it. What are the symptoms?

Also, what is this "pesserie" ?

According to my research, WebMD says Pesseries are removable devices (donuts, rings, etc.) that are inserted into the vagina to help support areas in the pelvis with pelvic organ prolapse.

I'm unsure of their helpfulness in cases of thrush, though. Maybe the prolapse causes pockets in the tissues that allowed for thrush to happen in the first place, and using a pesserie "opens' the tissue up, thus preventing it from being optimal breeding grounds for thrush to take hold?

Anyways, Scarlett, if you have discomfort and dryness during sex, the best thing to do is make an appointment with your gyno and look into using aides like lubes in the meantime. It's probably just the result of your body winding things up with healing after thrush, but it's always a good idea to ask your doctor if you have any concerns or questions.

I had oral thrush and it was no fun. Even though it was in my throat and not down there, I can somewhat understand what you have been going through, so you have my utmost sympathy.

Thank you people! A pesserie is like a tablet but you put it in your vagina instead of in your mouth!

I think it could be just an irritation. Maybe its in my mind so I'm struggling with arousal! I'll give it another week or so and then go to the docs if there's no improvement!
