Okay, so yeah, I'm the heaviest I've ever been. And haven't dated or wanted to day in 4 years...

This is embarrassing to admit but I can't even really see down there too well. But I want to get well groomed because I have a date coming up, and not like anything it going to happen on the first date, because I'm not going to do that, but still, I'd like to get prepared.

I dunno, should I just go get waxed? I've never been waxed before. My skin tends to be sensitive and get red and bumpy afterwards.

Any fat women have advice for another fat woman?

Thanks,
Seesaw

Well, if you can't see down there, and you're not sure if waxing is for you, why not use a handheld mirror or something when you're grooming? Sure, it'll take some hand eye coordination but it'll be more convienent and less awkward than having a bikini wax done.

I am tentatively planning on a waxing (by a professional) before my boyfriend comes to visit. I know that some parts of the body are more sensitive than others, but how bad can it be? I've had eyebrow sculpting done before. It can't possibly be any worse, can it?

Or will I be walking bowlegged for a couple of days?

Note to self: have waxing done a few days before the intended date/arrival of boyfriend to allow for the tenderness and redness to go down.

I wax often. I recommend going to a professional waxing place and not doing it yourself.
It lasts fairly longer (four to five weeks v. few days) than shaving. And it is much cleaner. And, the more I wax, the less hair growth.
It does hurt and I get a mild rash afterwards and I use cream and baby powder to address that mild discomfort.

Any one else have suggestions?

The hand held mirror doesn't work.

I am thinking of the waxing. I'm just not sure what to expect.

I often find that sitting down and sucking in my gut so I can get a better angle at that area help. If sucking in your gut doesn't work, move it around a bit with one hand while maneuvering the razor in the other. Also, don't use dull razors down there.

I said it doesn't work. Please don't force it on me. I don't need to feel worse about something.

I groom by feel with a battery operated trimmer. I don't have need for my bits to be bald, so this works well enough for my purposes.

I don't see where I suggested this before or how it's being "forced" on you. You asked for ideas, I gave you two different ideas. I don't get what the problem is.

I'm just gonna put this out there... similar to what was mentioned above, but, battery operated trimmer, even the ones you might use for a dog or cat... is pretty easy, if you don't care about it being 100% smooth like waxing. Personally the idea of a stranger waxing down there is terrifying, I don't think you could pay me enough to do it...

"handheld" mirror- you can put it on the floor, and / or use a full length mirror on the wall.

I can't believe I'm talking about this on the internet.

Sugaring is better than waxing and better than shaving. There is also a new British line of polymeric wax products called SKIN'S which is supposed to be even better, but since you are in a rush, go on Yelp, look up sugar spas in your area, read the recommendations, and go for what has most upvotes. Note which practitioner in a spa gets especially good recommendations and ask for her. Half an hour before the procedure, have a meal, taking an Advil pill (do not take it on an empty stomach). Ask the practitioner to guide your breathing. To do the backside you would need to hold your knees - just do the best you can, this is not a yoga practice. You will be fine. Do not try to do anything by yourself at home - you won't succeed and just get disappointed. All the best.

Well I have problems reaching the desired area bec of my gut. So I can sympathize totally...& sucking my gut in??? Bahaha! Doesn’t do a thing. Cores are for apples!

I think you need to figure out what area you want done. Bikini line? Brazilian? The back door?
Then figure out when the last time it had attention & figure if it’s been awhile you might get a breakout. I know that with regular maintenance I don’t break out anymore.
I’ve had waxing of everything between my legs a couple of times. I enjoy pain & the labia area wasn’t too bad. But the roof of the clitoris brought tears to my eyes! An oh mother of god! Hot pain. Yikes. Butt, no problem.
What I didn’t like was the contract I was usually asked to keep. That I wouldn’t shave for 4-5 wks until the next waxing. I understand it’s beneficial for maximizing the effect, but if I wanted to do a quick trim before....nope. So I went back to my blind method.
Now if you’re really concerned what it looks like down there....some cameras have a timer on them...know what I mean?.....& selfie sticks r cheap now.

PS
Have any very good friends that could lend a hand???

This thread is cracking me up. I'm in no hurry, fyi. Someone suggested I was.

I'm going to try waxing in a week or so, before my trip to LA.

I am on my way to LA right now. Actually, I had a date last night. And while I did save my legs, I was still ungroomed, but ended up sleeping with the man I dated. And he practically begged me not to shave or wax. Lol. Nah....there needs to be some grooming down there. I don't need a Brazilian but there needs to be a bikini line.

I don't get men. At all.

You're hilarious, Emily.

Seriously the things we do for men that they don't even like! Last night my man friend was like, oh no, it's SO hot. I was like, um, really? It's like a jungle down there. Nope, he was all about it. I don't get it. I just don't. I'm not talking about going bare, but, you know, just grooming. Just like a well-groomed beard.

Whatever. I give up.
