High Heels at Work Are ‘Necessary’ and ‘Appropriate,’ Says Japan’s Health Minister - att.net

That's a shame. They are uncomfortable and not good for the feet.

That's just some blatant sexist BS there. Also he's the 'health' minister? Nothing about those shoes is good for the health of your feet. Geez.

That’s a country where they used to bind women’s feet to make them look tiny and delicate. Protest this! Japan is a leader in education , business, and technology.

Fair play to the women involved with the petition. And I hope that one day the Minister will regain a connection to reality.

LOL. I'm petite too. I feel like I can straighten my back better with comfortable tennis shoes.

High heels are so painful, they are only good for walking around in the same room. If I walk from a building to my car in them, my feet are already hurting. And they are so loud! Click, clock, click, clock...

Requiring high heals is so backwards and ignorant. Requiring professional clean clothes and shoes, sure. Heels? No thanks

High heels are very damaging to your feet. Any country or place of employment that requires heels should force them on both sexes. No doubt things would change fast.

I don't wear them either. I'd probably fall over!

Have any of you ever tried an inverted heel - where the heel is sunken down, so it's a little lower than your foot (if I'm understanding correctly).

I have an old pair of "Earth" shoes that I think had this - they've been awesome, so incredibly supportive. But they're starting to fall apart, and the last pair that I tried from them didn't seem to have the same feature.
