i was diagnosed with severe endometriosis after i was getting really bad pains in my lower abdomial/pelvic floor region.
I had been told for a while that it would just be bad period pains, but decided that it was more than that when it became painful to have intercourse. I had an ultrasound done and unfortunately nothing showed upon the scan, so things didnt go much further for a while. It wasnt until i was rushed to hospital after passing out in pain on the street, that doctors started taking me seriously again. I am having a laparscopy in 2 weeks time. I pass out maybe once a week with this pain and there is nothing i can do about it. It had been a long wait to finally find out what was wrong with me, but im glad that there is now a reason for all the pain. I am struggling to deal with the fact that i may not have children - it will be one thing if i can get pregnant, but another to actually carry the baby into full pregnancy. I feel that i am too young to be told that i should really think about trying to have kids in the next couple of years. Sometimes i feel that everything is just getting too much for me and i want to just...let go. If anyone has had/still have endo, i would appreciate any feedback, success stories, anything. Or if anyone has been going through similar pain but with a different diagnose, i would be grateful to hear from you too. |

I am sorry to hear about your pain.
I have pain like that too. I go to the ER quite often (every few months), but I am always told the same thing "you have ovarian cysts. They are normal. They'll go away." BUT THE PAIN IS ENDLESS!

nope... they give me pain meds (which don't really work) and send me home
They have never mentioned draining them. I have actually never heard of that.

i havnt had cysts before but my friend has had them before and i go with her to the hospital to get them drained - maybe its just something that happens here in New Zealand (if you are not from here) Maybe you could talk to them about draining them, i know that meds dont work and getting them drained apparntly make it so much better. just an idea

![]() ![]() Please don't lose heart just yet. I've struggled with endometriosis -- have adenomyosis (the uterus is almost twice it's normal size due to endometrial tissue on the outer uterine muscle)-- periods are extremely painful and very heavy. ![]() ![]() (who says mental illness is ALL bad?? ![]() I did manage to get pregnant several times and have had two children. Then I found that the pill helped the symptoms of endometriosis quite a bit(at least for me anyway)-- it was incredible. I told the doctor-- "So, is this the kind of period most women have?"-- and she said "Yep".... and then I said-- "No wonder most women don't make a big deal about it-- wish I could have had it this easy the past 15 years! I hope you find avenues that help you to get from life what you wish. ![]() Please take care and hoping the best for you. ![]() fins

I have endometriosis, diagnosed 23 years ago and know many people with it. There have been many treatments over the years for me, some successful and some not so, but lots of options now to manage it. This did not used to be the case. There is no cure unfortunately yet and pregnancy is not a cure, in case someone tells you that.
I highly recommend the book on endo by Susan Lark (can't think of the title and am not home either at the moment to look it up.) It provides a great explanation of endo and helpful techniques to manage it: from holistic, exercises for symptom relief, and medication therapy. There are newer treatments since it was published to add to it but a good place to start. Was a saving grace for me in the beginning and still is helpful, still use many of the techniques to this day. Pregnancy is far from being out of the question. Fertility can be a factor and depending on how severe the illness and the adhesions are from your implants, can affect carrying to term. However there are things to do to help minimize this risk and if fertility is an issue, there is help there as well; talk to your doctor. Endo has been the bane of my existence but have come to accept it now, with better meds, treatment options, and knowledge of it. I recommend educating yourself about it, the treatments, your body, and what works for you; oh, and get the Lark book, so helpful. Feel free to PM me meanwhile. Hang in there, the right treatment is there for you to help you manage it. ![]() |
