I have been arguing a lot with a man I have been dating for about a year. He is a great guy with a real bad case of depression. The good note is he realizes he has a problem and is finally going to go see a therapist. My problem is I feel disgusted lately if he tries to touch me or show me any emotion. I have been coming up with a million excuses why I can't see him and have basically been having a relationship over the phone for the last month. The only thing that has changed in my life except for the stress of his depression is that I started taking YAZ birth control. I was on Yasmin before but had really bad cramps. My doctor switched me over to YAZ but I have noticed that I have been depressed and wanting to spend a lot of time at home by myself. I also have noticed that I have absolutly no desire to have sex (it actually disgusts me when I think about it). Before I started YAZ I had a really ice drive and I was wondering if any other women out there have experienced this same problem?

Sarah, I have experienced both depression (and mania) as well as loss of sexual desire while on birth control pills (a couple of decades ago). This made me use other forms of birth control. If you go off the pills, the symptoms will probably go away quite quickly. Today's pills are lower dose than when I took them, but your particular pill may simply not be a good match for your personal biochemistry.
