I haven't had a period since mid February...they've never been particularly regular, but they've also never been more than about 6 weeks apart before now, so I've definitely missed one and may have missed two. I'm not pregnant, so I'm not sure what's going on. Should I be worried?

(((((((((((Rio)))))))))))))))

In my experience missing a period doesn't always mean something is wrong but it might be better to get it checked out.

Pregnancy is often the first thing I think of but that happens to not be the case here. There are many other reasons for missed or irregular periods. Has anything changed regarding your health or medication? Have you been feeling okay otherwise? Sometimes stress can play a part too. I think if you're concerned it wouldn't be a bad idea to check with a doctor. Even if it turns out to not be a concern, then you know.

I am not sure how much you weigh....... but I know that my niece started to miss her periods about a year ago due to low body fat - that which is needed for a regular menstrual cycle in females.

Many things can alter the menstrual cycle including but not limited to diet, stress, medications, weight gain or loss, illness, thyroid problems, etc.

Generally, most medical folks will tell you "if you miss MORE than 3 cycles, See your doctor." It can take time for the cycle to straighten itself out, but this is the fairly accepted time period.

Sorry for the late reply...thanks, everyone. I've been feeling ok otherwise, and I'm not on any medication...exams could be considered stressful, but I've done plenty of them before...weight hasn't changed recently (I've been trying to lose some of the 8-10lb I gained since coming to uni last year, but it hasn't been working - I'm 123lb, at 5'5). If it hasn't come back by the end of May, though, I'll see if I can get a doctor's appointment then.

Since they haven't ever been regular before and you feel well, does sound like just a "normal" glitch. Your weight doesn't sound too slight; I had regular periods at your age, was 5'6" and 127 lbs. and had no fat whatsoever (couldn't do "dead man's" float, literally sank to the bottom of the pool :-)

I don't know if you do a lot of exercise or anything; my girlfriend was a physical ed major and always running or doing sports and would miss hers because of all the "extra" exercise the doctor said; runners often miss theirs I think.

Thanks, Perna. I'm beginning to think so as well...I may see someone about it if it still hasn't come back by the end of the month, though. Sounds like we have/had the same bmi! Should I be worried?

How much exercise is a lot? I've been going to the gym a couple of times a week for most of this semester...did the same last semester as well, but I was doing badminton and aerobics instead of using the machines. I walk quite a bit as well, but I've always done that.

I missed my cycle a lot and was put on birth control to regulate it which has helped a lot; not that I missed it. haha. I guess it is probably better or more healthy if u have one though.

Thanks for replying, evildouble. I don't miss it either, to be honest! Should I be worried? It'd be great having it regular, though, then I wouldn't have to worry about when it was going to start. That's good birth control worked for you!

I did not read all the replies so Im sorry if this is just a repeat of advice but increased stress can cause lighter periods or for you to even totally miss a period. Also heavy exercise can do the same. This may sound strange but often times woman who are around eachother a lot or live together have cycles that are either at the same time as eachother or just before or after...our bodies do that on purpose. Kind of funny but true. I have had mine change when living with my sister in law or my sister. Beyond that I wouldnt know exactly what to suggest but go to the doctor and Im sure you will find out it is nothing to worry about.

Best Wishes!

my cry to him reached his ears."

Sorry it took me so long to reply...thanks, holdingon. I had heard about women's cycles synchronising, it is very strange!

I guess I was under stress before because of the exams (should be used to those by now, though!), but they've finished now, and still no period. Should I be worried? If it's not back by the end of the month, I'm going to try and get a doctor's appointment. I hope it is nothing, though. It's actually quite nice not having it! Should I be worried?

Thanks. Should I be worried?
