hello ladies,

Ok I have a question concerning pap tests! I have to get a physical for my new job and i'm assuming that includes a pap test.... which I've never gotten before . So.... I guess I'm just really nervous on how I should "prep" for this... in turms of "down there"....!

So currently, i don't have a boyfriend or am having sex... so i kind of just keep it neat and trim... but I'm not sure what the dr is use to! Part of me is scared if i don't present "right" the dr's is going to judge me. Do people shave everything off down there?..... this is so embarassing!

PLEASE, everyone give me their opinions, i'm in serious need of help as i do not feel remotely comfortable asking anyone this IRL.

Thanks so much!
Tracy

during a physical for a job I have never had a dr do a pap but if you have never had one it might be time to start.

I, too, have never heard of a physical for a job including a pap. You really should start getting one, though. No need to shave. Doctors have honestly seen everything and I can't imagine one judging a person based on a pelvic exam. Regarding prep when you have one, there really isn't any physical prep you have to do--it's mostly mental. You have to be relaxed and for me it was easier to just let me mind go somewhere else. If you tense up, it will hurt. Good luck.

Yeah neither have i heard of that being done for a physical to get a job. But when you do go to get a pap, theres nothing to it. It's done in 5 minutes. As far as shaving down there, do what you feel comfortable. I try to be neat, but thats just to make me feel more presentable i guess you would call it.

Yes, me too.. the physicals I have had for work didn't require a pap... though pap's can really save lives... so they are good...

I had.. alot.. of those types of exams.. and ya know.. the drs don't really care.. as long as you are clean and relax.. relax.. relax... the drs just really want to get.. the swab.. get it done.. and get on with the rest of the patients...they have waiting..

so.. I wouldn't worry too much... just relax....and breathe... during the exam..

If you go for a pap and your self concious, well first of all no sex for 24 hrs before the test. #2, if you are self concious about smell, i use a feminine wash for sensitive skin, and ooooooooh i feel so majorly fresh!!

The pap goes pretty quick, its usually a doc and their assistant. they spread you eagle, and sorta but a plyers like device in you and spread you. Yah. not fun, but the only positive thing about it, is the reassurance that you are a-o-k.
