I use A & D or vasaline at night. I don't like the feel of the heavy creams but my upper arms get very painful in the winter. There is also a cream called cetphile (sp) you can get it in lotion or cream form. Dr. recommends putting it on within seconds of getting out of the shower. The cream form goes on heavy but after a few minutes its ok and you're skin is soft all day.

You mention you're tan, do you use sun screen? That makes a big difference.

HI

Dry skin can be soooooo annoying! One thing to consider is your regular diet. I'm no sure what foods are needed for good skin, but I think I remember seeing something about Vit. C. And of course, since you are outside in the garden a lot sun screen! Not bathing or showering in hot water or soaking too long are all treatments the doctor told me about my son when he was a toddler because that is very drying on the skin. That was 40 years ago and I think it is still good advise for dry skin!

My legs are flakey too. I have what ever cheat lotion I like the smell of next to my bed and sometimes even remember to use it before climbing into bed at night. Just imagine what my legs would be like if I did it all the time! Living in the north with cold winters is when my legs turn into flakey gator skin, and one of then things I do is not shave as often since my legs are covered anyway with long pants.

Hope you find something good. LOL!

Ditto for me also on the BagBalm. Good old Gold Bond also does a good job.
Before I retired, most of the nurses I worked with used BagBalm at night and Gold Bond during the day.

I'm glad it was mentioned about having your thyroid and glucose levels checked...many times we think it's only aging and it can be. But health problems can also contribute to skin problems.

Now if I could only find something besides duct tape to help with my wings...

I've been reading a lot about menopause and thyroid disorders. From what I've read many women have thyroid disease and attribute it all to meno... It's important to get your thyroid tested but you need the right tests....TSH, Free T3, Free T4, and Thyroid Antibodies!

I'm going through this now and it is horrible. Doctors will tell you that your numbers are in the "normal" range but sometimes they are borderline which means if you are symptomatic you could have thyroid disease...

It sucks the life out of you so pay attention to the signs!

Thyroid disorders can cause depression and can mimic bipolar disorder... Please read below regarding one form, hypothyroidism, and have your numbers checked...TSH, T3, T4, Free T3, Free T4, and Thyroid Antibodies (for Graves Disease and Hashimotos Disease (which mimics BP)

Although I have never tried it, I know several women who swear by CRISCO! Seriously...even on their face.

Yikes!
