I have been having problems with bladder control for a few mths now resorting to wearing thin incontance pads while out and about
but this week while I have been ill with this stupid cold and cough, I cant go anywhere with out wearing large thick pad, I already spoke to doc and she got another doc to check bladder when I had my smear that seemed fine she also was meant to have me see pyhiso to help strengthen the bladder but I haven’t heard anything yet, sometimes I don’t even need the loo and I can have an accident its starting to get annoying, she checked for urine infection and took blood tests to rule other stuff out
Was wondering if any body else has to deal with anything like this

Pelvic floor exercises can help but it is probably from having children particularly if you had difficult births. I think ultimately you will have to have an operation to put it right though. Please speak to your Doc again.

I have been dealing with this for many years and I just went through bladder surgery last year to help correct the problem, but only after other noninvasive solution didn't work for me.

Keep your apt with your doctors and see what they can do to help.... ask about a Rx for Enablex for over active bladder or about electrical wall
strengthening.

Good Luck.

I have had surgery 2 times for this problem. the first one has it's advantages but it didn't work for long and won't so I don't recommend it. it is called the sling procedure. they take a piece of the vaginal wall and make like a sling to sit the bladder in. one side of mine didn't hold up. so I had to go back and they did one called MMK. that is where they stitch the bladder to the pelvic bone. man that one works! I had it done in late 99 and no issues since that time. so if you are offered an option try that one. the recovery is longer but it works. good luck!

I have never had children, I am 24. AND I have leaks, continuously. It used to only come when I sneezed/coughed/laughed/or if I would have to go, I would leak a little. But for the last 2 1/2 years it leaks all the time. I went to my Doctor and she told me to do Kiegel Exercises, and to try to stop the flow as another excercise mid stream.

She also sent me to get a ( I forget what it is called) but when u have a baby and they use the monitor to look at your stomach abdomen?

Well that is where I was sent, so they could look at my bladder and how it emptied. The technician found that I have gull stones. And that a very small amount of pee does not come out. When I went back to my Doctor, she told me that there was nothing wrong. Yet I still leaked.

Her and I believe it came from sitting/laying down all day, and not getting exercise. She told me to cut back on things such as Pop, Coffee, and Tea. BUT even when I did that, it still didn't matter, because I need a daily intake of water, and after drinking water I was still leaking.

I am sure there are different levels of incontinence, and different forms, Stress, Urge and mixed.

It's slowed up quite a bit now. I have been getting more exercise, and really try to not drink so much, including water.

I still have leakage.

My mother had the sling proceedure many years ago and has been doing well with it since. I have had a referral for a couple of years to get the proceedure done but my ob/gyn doesn't do the surgery, I have to go to a new guy, not an easy thing for me.

I had mine last August (2008) and it has greatly improved my bladder leakage and a few sexual problems in that area.\ I also take Enablex for over active bladder and I am happy.

Take it easy after the surgery or your abdominal area will pay for it - and please keep in mind that yes it is best to wait the full six weeks before you have sex and note that it will take any where around 4-6 months before sexual intercourse is not painful in any way.... communication with our man is best here.
Thanks for this!

My sister had collagen injections to beef up the muscles around the bladder and she's been very pleased. She's 65.

I had a bladder infection a while back and was having problems with bladder control. Someone I spoke with suggest keggle (sp?) exercises? I never needed it because my infection went away but apparently it worked well for this woman. Maybe worth a try?
