I know I have posted here a million times regarding my PMS anxiety but I really need some help.
It's like over night my brain switches and I have very very bad anxiety. To the point I cannot even go outside. The anxiety increases my paranoia levels and causes me to over medicate to reduce the symptoms. I've heard of eating chocolate bars, drinking tea,.....list goes on. If anyone else suffers and I do mean SUFFERS from PMS anxiety please let me know. And tell me what works best for you. Thank-you!! |

Hey zen. I posted a reply to your other post concerning this too. I try not to eat anything containing caffiene. That seems to make my symptoms worse. I pretty much do the same thing you do to aliviate it even though I know thats not a good thing to do

Please take note that it is the DARK CHOCOLATE that is to be eaten during your period for relief of PMS symptoms... buy a large dark chocolate Hershey bar and eat two squares per day during your period.

I know some women have the opposite effect, but birth control pills really helped with my PMS. Other women can get more depressed or anxious on them and may need to switch brands and what not, so it might be worth a try. Some antidepressants (if you're not already on them/can tolerate 'em) are good for pms too, like zoloft and prozac I hear are good for that, and you don't have to take them all month, some women only take them for two weeks at a time, so might be worth a try. Also, I think it's called Prime Rose Oil, might be good too, you can get it a health store, but you'll obviously want to take with your doctor just to make sure there are no interactions going on, but if you're schizophrenic, I've read it's not good to take, don't know why.

Yeah I have anxiety with pms but now I take meds for my anxiety. Since I.ve been on the meds I dont have much pms like I did before. My daughter has the same thing and she tells me that birth controll has really worked for her. umm if your cramping really bad or just feel a lot of pressure try hot tea with honey in it.

Hey Zen,
I'm not sure if you are still dealing with this, but odds are you will again soon. Flax seed, crushed, is good for PMS, 1-2 T. You can try it added to yogurt or cottage cheese for more bang for your buck or you can add it to a glass of water, stir, and drink...quickly lol... Hope you're feeling better... The last time I went on BC pills I had terrible pounding head ache along with increased heart rate. So, I don't want to take BC pills.
Thank-you for all your advice and suggestions! |

Not all birth control pills are the same, they all have varying levels and kinds of horomones and like everything else, it takes time to adjust to those darn side effects, so don't let one bad experience turn you off.

I take Evening Primrose Oil, a Multivitamin, Flax Seeds in Oatmeal and Borage Oil. It all helps keep the anxiety and cramps at a more tolerable level. Myrrh in capsules is good as well to take a few weeks before you start, and Daily afterwards. Ask your Dr or Pharmacist if you can take this with yore meds though just to make sure it is safe. I have Never had any problems taking any of these with meds myself. Take care I hope things get better for you soon. Birth control does help many people, but since I had my tubes tied years ago I just went the herbal way for menstrual problems, so I am not aware of all the possiblities available at this time regarding Birth control options.
