So I chart and use a diaphragm during my fertile time. (Which means I track my BBT to tell when I ovulate so I know to avoid having sex at that time.) I didn't chart this month because I had knee surgery and it was just harder to get up in the mornings. But here's my question - I am on cycle day 40 with no period. I do not believe I am pregnant because my temp is still below my post - ovulatory temp which means I haven't even ovulated yet. Can narcotics (Lortab, Percoset) cause me not to ovulate and therefore my period to be late? I have been on quite a few because of the surgery. Just curious if anyone else has had this problem...

surgery itself can cause a delay in your period. it can either bring it on or delay it.

i do belive narcotics can mess up your cycle. I was addicted to Vicodin and Demoral and they messed mine up bad of course I took about 220 pills a month for 6 months. But I do think they can

anything and I mean ANYTHING can mess up your cycle. sleep pattern changes, diet changes, changes in exercise, mood, anything. when I went off birth control for almost a year to get my PCOS in check I was regular at first. Then I got an internship and started doing physical labor in the forest 40 hours a week. I didn't get a period for 9 weeks! Then, the week after I came back from my internship and my schedule went back to normal I had a month long period. Then no period again for 6 weeks.

If youre not on birth control that keeps your hormones stable, anything can cause your period to delay or go out of whack in any way. it really doesn't take much to do that.

They sell pregnancy tests at the dollar store if you are concerned you might be pregnant, it may help reduce your anxiety about this; but as others have said, many things can affect you cycle.
