I have postings under other headings on this site and today I'm now getting familiar with this section

I am or should I say was? a stay at home mom. I have two young boys I and that i'm thankful for and are healthy.

My husband was laid off on Thursday. We are blessed to have enough money to last us 3 months for health insurance and pay our mortgage (maybe more - we need to run some numbers). I am scared out of my mind for our future and I'm staying strong and doing everything possible to help my husband / us get through this.

We are going to file for unemployment and it looks like we will qualify for the reduced rate for cobra (35% instead of the full boat ) .

Yesterday my heart was breaking when my son asked if we could buy a book at the store. I feel so sad right for my children. I'm going to have to ask for donations for clothes for my children .

Thankfully we have a great library for books and a salvation army near by.

I'm not writing this for a pitty party I'm just trying to get this out somewhere. I need to stay strong for my family.

What if you knew he would get a job in two months and four days; what would you as a family do? I suspect that you would decide that while you might have to tighten your belts for a few months, you are going to make the most out of dad's time off and really enjoy each other and the extra time you have together - making the most out of a unplanned and unexpected vacation.

Your husband will get another job. It might be in a week, a month or even three months - but eventually he will get a job. How will you spend that time? You can fret continually to no end - or you can make the most out of it. I know that this is serious and you are feeling financially insecure...but you cannot change the fact that you are going through this - you can change how you look at it. It is an opportunity. Good luck.
Thanks for this!

Thank you AkAngel - I'm feeling better about all of this today. Things will happen eventually. I need to enjoy the time.
