My husband is finally leaving for Afghanistan next week. That's the good news. But he retires from the ARmy at the end of this month. Meaning, he won't get paid until mid-February. We're still behind on our bills. I don't know how we're going to get through until his first paycheck comes in. We already filed for our tax return, but they can't send out the papers yet because the IRS won't accept taxes that include the repayment of that first homebuyer's credit. Which ours does. So we have to wait until they do. We have a lot of money coming, but until then we have to survive somehow. If we don't pay our utilities by the end of the month they're going to shut us off. I'm really worried.

In case anyone cares, we sold everything we have that's worth anything, and had enough money for the most important bills. At least our utilities won't get shut off now. And I have a little money left over for groceries. My husband should get his first small paycheck in a week. Things are slowly starting to look up.

oh
How does it work where u are can some of your bills be put on hold or can you get your home loan extened (not more money but more time added to it so u can defer payments) do they have help through the army for when people are in need or local charities? Wish i saw your post sooner, hope things do keep improving.

Thank you both!

We tried all that, Army Emergency Relief loan, charities, all that stuff. Nothing. We're going to have to work it out on our own. Yesterday, my husband's brother wired him some money, as a loan. We didn't ask him for money, he found out and just sent it. It's not much, but every little bit helps. My husband has to live on something while he's in the hotel for training. The company pays for the hotel, but not for meals and such.

It's so frustrating, we have a bunch of money coming in, we just have to survive until then. Another month or so and we'll be good. No more money issues. We can get caught up on all our bills, and pay off all our debt (except for the mortgage of course).

I hate it when people say money doesn't make you happy. It sure does help a whole lot. It's a lot easier to be happy when you have money.

There's probably nothing here you haven't already seen, but, just in case...
