I got an email today from the controller I interviewed with last Fri. That's the interview I didn't think went well. I've been called back for a second interview along with 2 other people. Now the bad part - the interview isn't until next Wed. which is within the time frame that I'm supposed to hear about the Mississauga job. I hope Mississauga job doesn't offer it to me, before I have the second interview.
I really really want this job. The two jobs are basically the same, this one's marginally more senior, but the pay scales are similar. This one is permanent with benefits while the other one is independent contractor. But the really big benefit to me is this job is downtown on a subway line, which would allow me to sell my car and get out from under my crippling car insurance payments. That would allow me to begin paying down debt and start rebuilding my savings. Trying not to freak out. splitimage |

Tell Mississauga you'll let them know if you can take it, Wednesday afternoon, that you have other people you need to consult with :-) Hopefully they won't call until Tuesday or Wednesday so you can easily tell them you'll call back the next day.
You could always take the Mississauga job and go to the interview Wednesday and back out before you start if necessary; that happens quite often I think? You're allowed to make a mistake, have a better choice for you come up (they do it with people, if someone accepts and then drops out they try again with their second choice?); it happens all the time with college applicants; they know you're going on other interviews and you can use that to your advantage, especially with the job you really want by hinting you have Mississauga waiting in the wings so are a very desirable lady and they should make it worth your while to back out of that ![]()

Super great news splitimage! And, as Perna wrote, even if the second group offers you a job before you know the results from the one you want - it is totally ok to hear an offer but say you want to think about it for a few days before you make a decision. That happens frequently with people who interview where I work. Don't worry, employers are really trying to hire the best of the best these days and they will wait.

I wish you luck, I wish something would happen where you would not have to make the decision and I wish you get the job that you want.

Thanks everyone - I am massively stressed out. My second interview was moved from Wed. to today, so I had the interview this morning. I think it went ok, or more precisely I don't think I completely screwed it up.
The hiring manager emailed me about the process saying that they have one more candidate that they want to do a second interview with but that's not 'til Fri. so they may make a decision on Fri. or next week. I hate waiting. And neither job has asked for my references, so all my negative thinking patterns are coming out and telling me that I'm not going to get either job. As one of my more level headed friends pointed out - they could be waiting until the very end to do references, and only do references on the person they decide to hire. So I'm stressed. In other news, I had a telephone interview with a recruiter about a senior job with a crown corporation and I made it past the recruiter. He's passed my resume onto the corporation so now I'm waiting to see if I get an inperson interview with them, but crown corporations are notoriously slow. I applied to 3 jobs yesterday and 2 jobs today so I'm still throwing balls in the air, and I'm supposed to call a recruiter tomorrow morning about a possible job she's trying to fill. I'm just feeling very freaked out. splitimage |
