A recruiter contacted me today about a job that's in a great location - 15 min bus ride from my apartment. She'd seen my profile in a Happen mailing that Happen (networking group sent out). So I scrambled today to update my resume with my current contract work, and sent it in.
She wants to interview me tomorrow, so I have an interview at 3 pm after day hospital. I'm trying not to get too excited as it's just the preliminary interview with the recruiter to see if she'll forward my resume to the client, who will then have to decide if they want to interview me. But I still feel good as it's my first interview in months, and she contacted me. Good luck vibes would be appreciated. splitimage |

Thanks Roadie & Notz,
Well I'm pretty happy with how the interview went. I went in with zero expectations since my previoius experience with recruiters has been pretty awful. Plus I'm having very mixed feelings about returning to work full time right now vs pursuing more treatment. As a result I was totally relaxed, which meant I was able to smile, be friendly and animated, and I had great answers to all the questions she asked me. She's putting me forward to the company for an interview, so now it's wait and see if they want to interview me. She also said that she had 2 other jobs that she thought I'd be good for, and she'd send me the info on them on Mon. to see if I'm interested. Best part was she wasn't phased by the gaps on my resume - she totally bought the eldercare response for the 07 gap, and about my recent 18 month gap, I was semi honest with her and said that I'd been looking but had really been struggling because it was a tough market. She agreed. I think it really helps that it shows on my current resume that I'm now employed - that old "it's easier to get a job when you have one thing". Now I just have to wait and hope that the company wants to interview me. splitimage |

Thanks everyone - well I totally nailed the interview - so much so that by the end of it, the interviewer said that she had 3 jobs that she wanted to put me forward for!.
I've already heard back from one of the companies - they want to interview me this Wed. at 11 am. It's perfect, it's for an intermediate analyst, stable well known company, full benefits, decent pay, opportunity for advancement, and it's close to home. Most importantly it would let me keep my apartment which is huge. I figure I have a shot at getting an interview with one of the other companies as well. They want to remain confidential, but they're recruiting for a Finance Manager who has a publishing background. I've only worked in publishing for 20 years. But I still have to wait and hear if they want to interview me or not. Trying to not get my hopes up to high about the interview Wed. but I'm excited. splitimage |

That's great news, splitimage!
I can relate to not set hopes too high after interviews...it's hard not to sometimes, but at least you have an interview lined up. Way to go!
