Hi, I just wanted to ask if anyone here works for, or has worked for the United States Post Office. How in the heck does one get hired with them? It seems almost impossible. I've applied for temporary carrier a couple of times over the years, but that seems to be the end of the road. Is there anything I can do to improve my chances? I know they require you to pass the exam, but I haven't found any good info on where/when to take it. I think I read that it's not even necessary unless you are applying for a permanent position. I also understand that there is a hiring freeze with them, but that's gotta end sometime, and I'd like to try to be prepared.Would experience in a mailroom or distribution company increase my chances of at least a call back? Once,I actually got an email that they were considering my application, but then never heard anything else.
Anyone got the inside info?

I think it might be best to look somewhere else for a job. I know many USPS workers who have been laid off/furloughed/fired however you want to put it. There have just been so many cuts in their funding.
