I agreed to volunteer for this local art gallery I'm involved with. Basically, I'm in charge of coordinating a few fund-raising events, one of which is on Tuesday. When I contacted the one business we're doing the event at (they had tickets they were giving out for the organizations to sell for $5 each, with proceeds going to the nonprofit organizations), they said someone else had already picked up the tickets. Ultimately, I found out who it was and called them, they said they were going to be unavailable on that day and were going to cancel our organization's participation of the event altogether (!!!!). I stepped in and said I already talked to the individuals in charge of hosting the event, and already had a table and time reserved.

Like I said, the event is Tuesday. This guy still has the tickets, and was talking to me about setting up a meeting for Thursday! What? I need them for Tuesday!

Additionally, I'm in the process of making up a poster and trying to gather general give-away materials (brochures, business cards, etc). I was hoping someone else would have something completed (especially if this guy already had the tickets for the event and was evidently going to do it on his own?), but I guess it's all on me... I'm alright with that, I just feel like I'm in a bit over my head!

I had this amazing idea for the poster. As it's for the art gallery that takes a big focus on the historical setting of the town it's in, I thought it would be a nice idea to use a mural of the town as a background of the poster.

Turns out it's a bit challenging to actually do! I have a chalk outline of the town completed, and I'm in the process of finishing the painting part of things, but oh man, it's annoyingly complicated. I'm the kind of person that procrastinates on these things, and I have the rest of tonight and tomorrow to finish it. I'm really anxious, and to add to the kind of dark and brooding side of things, when I was buying paints for the poster it totaled up to $6.66, haha. Seriously though, I'm like 99.9999% sure this is going to be amazing, but it's just getting there that has my nerves wrecked. My back hurts from being hunched over working on it all day. I was supposed to play music with some friends tonight, but I had to cancel, and also bailed on seeing a movie with my dad. I just feel super bummed. I sent my T a message (when I told him about the event he even said he'd buy a few of the tickets we're selling), but he hasn't responded.

So the guy in charge of the organization decided to take a 2 month break from it, and also informed me that they have no brochures or business cards. I just wanted something small to give to people, you know? In volunteering for the same event with other organizations, they were very well-organized. Business cards, tons of brochures, sign-up pages for mailing lists, coloring pages... you name it, they had it. So it's just the poster for now. :/ No big deal, but it just feels unprepared.

The guy with the tickets contacted me, but it was hard to understand him. He's either calling me back today so that we can meet up and he can give them to me, or he's coming to the event tomorrow to drop them off? No idea!

Geez, that sounds so frustrating! I really hope that the guy with the tickets can meet up with you soon! Is there anyone else that is working with you on this?

He came through and gave me the tickets and a few extra things to display.

The poster looks really nice, I have the mural as a background and blocks of text over it. It's really coming together. I didn't like it at first, but part of the history of the organization that I discuss on the poster mentions the organization itself as a grassroots effort, to having that as a focal point with the art really just... flows! I still have a few things to add and edit, but I think I'm happy with it. :3

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
