I've applied to lots of places but get no responses. Do I need to call back?

It can't hurt - and if they say it's a no, why don't you ask them if they're willing to give feedback on your application?

The important thing is to seem enthusiastic, not pushy. So: "I wondered if you've had a chance to look at my application?" rather than "I gave you my application two weeks ago, why haven't you looked at it yet?"
Thanks for this!

It's never bad to follow up on an application.

Don't feel bad hun, the job market blows right now.

I've had 3 interviews, and still no job....I'm not too picky, just need full-time work.

How are you applying and what sorts of places? If you are applying online, calling a day or two after and making sure your application/resume was received, that can be a good idea.

i would definitely call back. wait about a week after turning in your application (which, if you did so online, it might have been a good idea to go in and let them know, "hey, i applied, just letting you know" the day you did it) before calling them.

my bosses take forever to look at applications, even though we're down to six regular workers and need more people to work. my general manager is lazy about paperwork. but they tend to pay attention to people who keep in touch after turning in an application.

Yes, you certainly should be pro-active in the job search! Employers want self-starters and people who really WANT the job. You may get a few no's but soon you'll get the yes! Good luck!

I'd say go for it - worst case scenario they wont reply again, best case, you may get put back on their application / interview roster! It's possible that whoever looked over your app simply was so busy/preoccupied/stressed they missed or forgot it.

Funny how so many job searches sound like dating advice
