Im not sure exactly what I want to major in college.

I started college in 2011, right out of high school, stayed for a year, the latter half was disastrous because of my anxiety and depression and self-loathing and PTSD. SO I took a year off and worked nearly that entire year at Wal-mart that was a hell all its own. But I started back up this fall and finished the semester with a 3.6 out of 4.0 GPA and Im still feeling strong and confident about that.

As of late, I'm pretty sure that I want to major in Psychology and get a masters in Counselling. The only problem with that is that I feel rather odd and/or crazy because I'm in the midst of therapy right now. Im an emotional mess most of the time but I really feel like counselling is my calling. Im thinking about talking to my T about it and see what she says... I don't know though. Im so conflicted.

Are any of you guys therapist or counsellors and you yourself are currently in counselling? Is it weird that I possibly what to do that with the rest of my life?

Go to the Department of Labor's Occupational Outlook Handbook online. In it, you can look up basically any job under the sun, find out the education needed, entry level wages, who hires entry level people, and whether demand for the job is trending up or down. It's a very valuable resource.

I think there are a "lot" of people on here going to school to be therapists/counselors. It is not crazy; it will take quite a lot of study and you will not be in therapy forever. To be a clinical psychologist, you have to be in therapy as part of your training I believe, so I would not worry too much about that if it is what you want to do. By all means, talk to your therapist about it! Where else can you get good, "free" occupational advice?
