Hi. I am 33 years old and I have just been diagnosed with Bipolar 2 disorder. I was hospitalized 15 years ago for attempted suicide, but blamed it on a break up and said I was "being dramatic" in order to get out of the hospital. Since then, I have had a series of failed jobs, a failed marriage, and several problems that have led me back to therapy. I accept this diagnosis. I have JUST started taking Saphris yesterday (anti-psychotic/ mood stabilizer) in addition to lexapro, which I have taken for 9 years. I am also trying to get off of klonapin, which I have taken for 15 years. I start a NEW JOB MONDAY as a Medical , so I am super worried I will get overwhelmed and do something "typical" (cry, zone out, be late all the time) to screw it up.

Hi
![]() I would try to focus on the positive and be aware that everyone makes mistakes. If you happen to have a bad moment just keep in mind that it's part of the process (I always go through a few tough weeks when in a new job, where even my dreamjob is scary, because I'm tense and I have to settle and understand the environment etc..) and it will be better once you settle in the new workplace. Don't worry about crying or zoning out in advance. Did you manage to talk about it in therapy to maybe set an emergency plan/coping skills in order to feel a bit safer and more reassured about it for when you start? You did so well - congratulations anyway.

Good luck on the new job! I know it's scary and I know that you're having a tough time at the moment, but as Ambra said, try to focus on the positives in your life at the moment, like the fact that you've got a new job!
