I don't know that there is anything I can do about this. I have bouts of depression which sometimes lands me in the hospital. My job has let me know that if it happens again I won't have my job anymore. Recently I have thought I might need another hospital stay but I refuse to go because I can't afford to lose this job. Does anybody have any ideas on what I could do?

You might want to check out the family medical leave act and see if you meet the requirements. They can't fire you and they have to leave your insurance in place if you have it.

I lost my last two jobs due to missing work due to depression. I have applied for social security disability but I have no idea if I will win the appeal. I didn't even think of FMLA at the time but I don't think I had been there a year yet. I was short by a month.

Take a look at your states disability laws. If the state has disability laws, they generally include a non-discrim section.

Also take a look at the ADA, as mental health is sometimes considered a disability and then they would be subject to an ADA suit. you might just want to call the ADA and talk to someone.

Definitely look into your states laws. My wife used to work with a woman that was off constantly due to a mental condition (can't remember what she had).

I'm sorry that you have found yourself in this position.

It's so hard to continue working when we are not well.

I guess you need to think long and hard about your own mental Heath. Sure, the money from work is something you need.

But if you're completely not yourself you could begin slipping up at work and not performing to your true potential.

At the end of the day I hope that the decision you make serves you well.
