I used to be really great at my Job...despite what my Boss felt. I was; I was attentive to the most important issues first, I was familiar with our Systems and knew where to find any report, I had good time management skills, and I felt a sense of accomplishment. This kept my work ethic good and strong.
I have since gone through a couple of (rrreally) rough things, but continued to work here. My quality of work has suffered. We got a new system (for our computer, point of sale/registers, and reporting purposes) and this has been a little hard for me to catch onto. My boss has also created a lot of new checklists, checklist items, and just extra tasks, that he now expects me to do alongside trying to adjust to the new system - and his feedback is just causing me to dislike it. It wears me down, rather than providing "motivation". So I'm overwhelmed. I have good benefits, I've been working here 3 years and I'm getting another raise in a few months, and I want to do well again. I guess just applying myself and really trying would help with this? But I'm so angry..so annoyed at what is expected of me. Haha, yep. That's about it. |

Any chance you could get to some counseling appointments and review this situation there? Maybe discuss your work situation in detail and look for creative ways to move through this. It would also give you a forum to discuss your feelings, especially your anger, about the work changes and expectations. Ultimately you may find this work situation is not right for you but it would be best to come to that conclusion after careful consideration.
Work is such a part of our well-being and happiness that I hope you take the time to work through this in a healthy way. You have been a good employee. Take care of yourself and your career. |

Thanks, Little LuLu. I'm hoping I can find the time/transportation to get counseling, soon.

You ever heard of the "anger iceberg"?
Anger is the 10% of the iceberg that you see above the water. 90% is the rest of the iceberg that lays beneath the sea that we don't see. It's called fear and insecurity. Change can cause anxiety and there seem to be a few set of changes happening in your work place. Take deep breaths. It's one day at a time. |

Could you make some time to learn the new system? Is there a practice environment/sandbox area you could play around in as you teach yourself? Sometimes the company that sold you the system has those tools.
I can see why you would be annoyed at having all of these changes to deal with at once. It sounds overwhelming. |

Cool down. Take deep breathes. It would help. *wink*

Thank you, all.
![]() I have become a lot more comfortable with the new system. I think my Boss has noticed, but it's mostly that I don't feel "bogged down", taking "too long" to try and figure things out every day. So, this has improved a lot. |
